Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas metode multisensori terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan peserta didik tunarungu kelas II di SLBN Cicendo. Berdasarkan kondisi empiris yang ditemukan, peserta didik tunarungu kelas II di SLBN Cicendo belum mampu mengenal sebagian huruf, kemampuan membaca suku kata kurang tepat, dan belum mampu membaca kalimat dengan benar dan jelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-eksperimen dengan desain penelitian berupa one group pre-test post-test. Adapun sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik tunarungu kelas II sebanyak 7 orang. Berdasarkan hasil temuan data dan pembahasan, indikator keberhasilan kemampuan peserta didik dalam membaca permulaan meningkat secara signifikan 50% dengan indeks efektivitas sedang dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Multisensori efektif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada peserta didik tunarungu kelas II. Maka metode Multisensori dapat direkomendasikan kepada guru dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan bagi peserta didik tunarungu di sekolah jika dilakukan secara konsisten. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the multisensory method in increasing the beginning reading ability of deaf students in class II at SLBN Cicendo. Based on the empirical conditions found, deaf students in class II at SLBN Cicendo have not been able to recognize some letters, their ability to read syllables is inaccurate, and they have not been able to read sentences correctly and clearly. The research method used was pre-experimental with the research design in the form of one group pre-test post-test. The research sample was deaf class II students as many as 7 people. Based on the findings of the data and discussion, the indicator of students' success in beginning reading increased significantly by 50% with a moderate index of effectiveness. It can be concluded that the Multisensory method was effective in improving initial reading skills in class II deaf students. So the Multisensory method can be recommended to teachers in learning to read beginning for deaf students at school if it is done consistently.
