Abstract

Menurut hasil observasi yang dilakukan pada bulan Oktober tahun 2022 di Sekolah SDN Maracang rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa disebabkan oleh pendekatan yang diterapkan selama proses pembelajaran tidak memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis. Salah satu alternatif solusi dari permasalahan di atas yaitu dengan penerapan pendekatan STEM di dalam proses pembelajaran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu, untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis aktivitas belajar dan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dengan menerapkan pendekatan STEM. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Adapun tahapan yang dilakukan adalah perencanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Dalam pengumpulam data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara, observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara analisis kuantitatif terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan STEM dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Hal tersebut ditunjukan dengan adanya peningkatan dalam hasil belajar siswa. Di tahap prasiklus siswa yang memperoleh ketuntasan belajar yaitu, 8 siswa atau 32% dan belum tuntas belajar 17 siswa atau 68%. Pada Siklus I mengalami peningkatan dengan siswa yang memperoleh ketuntasan belajar 15 siswa atau 60% dan belum tuntas belajar 10 siswa atau 40%. Pada Siklus II meningkat dengan 21 siswa atau 84% tuntas belajar dan 4 siswa atau 16 % belum tuntas belajar. ----- According to the results of observations made in October 2022 at SDN Maracang School the low ability of students' mathematical critical thinking was caused by the approach applied during the learning process which did not provide opportunities for students to practice critical thinking skills mathematically. One alternative solution to the problem above is the application of the STEM approach in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze learning activities and improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills by applying the STEM approach. The method used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The steps taken are planning, observation and reflection. In data collection is done by means of interviews, observation, tests, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by means of quantitative analysis of student learning outcomes. The results of this study indicate that the application of the STEM approach can improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This is indicated by an increase in student learning outcomes. At the pre-cycle stage, students who obtained mastery learning were 8 students or 32% and 17 students or 68% had not yet completed their studies. In Cycle I there was an increase with students who obtained 15 students' mastery learning or 60% and 10 students or 40% had not finished studying. In Cycle II it increased by 21 students or 84% had completed their studies and 4 students or 16% had not yet completed their studies.
