Abstract

Matematika adalah ide-ide abstrak yang mengandung simbol-simbol, sehingga seseorang harus memahami konsep-konsep matematika sebelum memanipulasi simbol-simbol tersebut. Jadi, kemampuan pemahaman matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan awal yang harus dimiliki siswa sebelum meningkat pada kemampuan matematis yang lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siwa yang belajar menggunakan model discovery learninng berbantuan media PhET Simulations dan mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruhnya. Jenis metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen. Metode eksperimen digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan antar variabel dengan melibatkan kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Desain yang digunakan adalah the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Desain ini memberikan pretest atau tes yang dilakukan sebelum diberikan perlakuan berupa soal uraian pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Ditemukan bahwa skor N-Gain kelas eksperimen dengan model discovery learning berbantuan PhET Simulations adalah 0,79 dan kelas kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional memperoleh skor 0,35. Ditemukan juga hasil perhitungan koefisien determinasi(D) diperoleh sebesar 19,43% yang merupakan besaran pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning berbantuan media PhET Simulations terhadap kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa. Penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran menggunakan model discovery learning berbantuan media PhET Simulations lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konvensional juga terdapat pengaruh pembelajaran menggunakan model discovery learning berbantuan media PhET Simulations terhadap kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa sekolah dasar. ----- Mathematics are abstract ideas that contain symbols, so one must understand mathematical concepts before manipulating these symbols. This study aims to determine the increase in the mathematical understanding ability of students who learn to use modelsdiscovery learninng media-assistedPhET Simulations and find out how much influence it has. This type of research method used is quasi-experimental. The experimental method is used to determine the relationship between variables by involving the control class and the experimental class. The design used was the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. This design provides a pretest or test that is carried out before being given treatment in the form of description questions in the control class and the experimental class. Found that scoreN-Gain experimental class with modelsdiscovery learning helpPhET Simulations is 0.79 and the control class with conventional learning gets a score of 0.35. It was also found that the results of the calculation of the coefficient of determination (D) were obtained at 19.43% which is the magnitude of the influence of the learning modeldiscovery learning media-assistedPhET Simulations on students' mathematical understanding ability. This study can be concluded that there is an increase in the ability of students' mathematical understanding to get learning using modelsdiscovery learning media-assistedPhET Simulations better than students who get learning with conventional approaches there is also the influence of learning using modelsdiscovery learning media-assistedPhET Simulations on the mathematical understanding ability of elementary school students.
