Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari oleh studi pendahuluan dan penelitian sebelumnya mengenai adanya learning obstacle yang dialami siswa SMP dalam memahami konsep peluang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi learning obstacle yang dialami siswa SMP pada materi peluang dan membuat desain bahan ajar untuk mengatasi learning obstacle yang ditemukan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif menggunakan metode fenomenologi dengan Design Didactical Research (DDR). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes identifikasi learning obstacle, observasi, kuesioner, wawancara, serta dokumentasi. Dari hasil penelitian siswa mengalami ontogenic obstacle (hambatan belajar yang berkaitan dengan kesiapan mental siswa dalam belajar), epistemological obstacle (hambatan belajar yang terjadi karena pemahaman siswa memiliki konteks yang terbatas), dan didactical obstacle (hambatan yang terjadi karena kesalahan metode atau pendekatan yang dilakukan guru selama proses belajar). Berdasarkan learning obstacle yang ditemukan, dibuat desain bahan ajar yang memuat tiga lesson design, yaitu lesson design satu yang membahas titik sampel dan ruang sampel, lesson design dua yang membahas peluang teoretik, dan lesson design tiga yang membahas peluang empirik. Pada penelitian selanjutnya, sebelum dilakukan identifikasi learning obstacle sebaiknya siswa diberi kesempatan untuk mempelajari materi terlebih dahulu dan desain bahan ajar yang dirancang sebaiknya diimplementasikan untuk mengukur keefektifannya. This research is based on preliminary studies and previous research regarding the presence of learning obstacles experienced by junior high school students in understanding probability concepts. The objective of this study is to identify the learning obstacles experienced by junior high school students in the topic of probability and to design instructional materials to address the identified learning obstacles. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with the phenomenological method and Design Didactical Research (DDR). Data collection techniques included identification tests of learning obstacles, observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation.The results of the research revealed that students experienced ontogenic obstacles (learning barriers related to students' mental readiness for learning), epistemological obstacles (barriers that occur due to limited understanding and context of students), and didactical obstacles (barriers that arise due to errors in the methods or approaches used by teachers during the learning process). Based on the identified learning obstacles, instructional materials were designed, comprising three lesson designs: the first lesson design covering sample points and sample spaces, the second lesson design addressing theoretical probability, and the third lesson design focusing on empirical probability.In future research, before identifying learning obstacles, students are advised to be given the opportunity to study the material first, and the designed instructional materials designs should be implemented to measure their effectiveness.
