Abstract

Skripsi ini menganalisis citra kontestan berdasarkan struktur dramatik pada
tayangan program Indonesia’s Next Top Model. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk
memahami bahwa citra kontestan dalam program tersebut memiliki hubungan/korelasi
dengan persepsi penonton terhadap program acara.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mix method yaitu, metode kualitatif
dengan cara mengobservasi tayangan beserta kemunculan citra kontestan dan metode
kuantitatif dengan cara melakukan survei kepada penonton program Indonesia’s Next
Top Model. Lalu setelah semua data temuan terkumpul, dilakukan uji korelasi untuk
melihat korelasi/hubungan antara kemunculan citra kontestan dengan persepsi penonton
terhadap program INTM.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa citra kontestan memiliki korelasi positif
dengan persepsi penonton terhadap program INTM. Semakin tinggi nilai citra positif
kontestan, semakin tinggi pula penonton menyukai kemasan program dan mendukung
penayangan program Indonesia’s Next Top Model. Begitupun sebaliknya.
Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa, penonton menyadari bahwa
citra yang muncul dalam struktur dramatik tayangan tersebut tidak mencakup pada semua
kontestan/perempuan, apalagi sampai menjadi stigma negatif.
Kesimpulannya, citra kontestan memiliki hubungan yang positif dalam
membentuk persepsi penonton terhadap program INTM. Hasil dari penelitian ini
diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan lebih lanjut kepada pembuat program dan
industri pertelevisian secara keseluruhan tentang pentingnya mempertimbangkan efek
citra pada pengisi acara dalam menciptakan konten yang menarik dan memikat bagi
penonton.

This thesis analyzes the image of the contestants based on the dramatic structure
on Indonesia's Next Top Model program. This research was conducted to understand that
the image of the contestants in the program has a relationship/correlation with the
audience's perception of the program.
This study uses a mix method approach, namely, a qualitative method by
observing broadcasts along with the appearance of the contestants' images and a
quantitative method by conducting a survey of viewers of the Indonesia's Next Top
Model program. Then after all the data findings were collected, a correlation test was
carried out to see the correlation/relationship between the appearance of the contestant's
image and the audience's perception of the INTM program.
The results showed that the image of the contestants had a positive correlation
with the audience's perception of the INTM program. The higher the contestant's positive
image value, the higher the audience likes the program packaging and supports the
broadcast of Indonesia's Next Top Model program. Vice versa.
In addition, this study also found that the audience realized that the image that
appeared in the dramatic structure of the show did not cover all contestants/women,
especially to the point where it became a negative stigma.
In conclusion, the contestant's image has a positive relationship in shaping the
audience's perception of the INTM program. The results of this study are expected to
provide further insight to program makers and the television industry as a whole about the
importance of considering the effect of image on performers in creating interesting and
engaging content for the audience.
