Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang penerapan pendekatan Open Ended untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa sekolah dasar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Latar belakang penelitian ini berdasarkan oleh permasalahan yaitu rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan mengacu pada Kemmis dan MC Taggart. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus dengan setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu Sekolah Dasar Negeri Purwakarta dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 28 siswa. Pada siklus I diperoleh dengan rata-rata kelas sebesar 69, siswa yang telah mencapai ketuntasan yaitu sebanyak 12 siswa atau mencapai persentase 43%, sedangkan siswa yang belum mencapai ketuntasan yaitu sebanyak 16 siswa atau mencapai persentase 68%. Pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan yang diperoleh dengan rata-rata kelas sebesar 85, siswa yang telah mencapai ketuntasan yaitu sebanyak 24 siswa atau mencapai mencapai 86%, sedangkan siswa yang belum mencapai ketuntasan yaitu sebanyak 4 siswa atau mencapai persentase 14%. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan minimal yang telah ditentukan ≥ 73. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan Open Ended mampu meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas III A di salah satu sekolah negeri Kabupaten Purwakarta. ----- This study examines the implementation of Open Ended approach to improve elementary school student’s mathematical problem solving abilities. The purpose of this study was to improve students’ mathematical problem solving ability. The background of this research is based on the problem of the problem of student’s low mathematical problem solving ability of students in mathematics. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) by refers to Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages, planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research was conducted in one of the Public Elementary Schools in Purwakarta with the number of participants 28 students. In cycle I, obtained with a grade average of 69, students who had reached mastery were 12 students or came with a percentage of 43%, while students who had not avhieved mastery were 16 students or got a percentage of 68%. In cycle II, an increase was obtained with a grade avarage of 85, students who has reached completeness were 24 students or reached 86%, while students who had not reached completeness were 4 students or reached a percentage of 14%. The shows the students have met the minimum completeness criteria, which has been determined to be ≥ 73. Based on the resultst of this study, it can be concluded that the Open Ended approach is can improve the mathematical problem solving ability of class III A students at one of the public elementary schools in Purwakarta.
