Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar. Salah satu usaha yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model Problem Based Learning dan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran konvensional dan pengaruh model Problem Based Learning terhadap peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains siswa Sekolah Dasar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent control group dan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV di salah satu SD Negeri di Purwakarta yang berjumlah 50 siswa dengan kelas IV A dan IV B masing-masing 25 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen kemampuan literasi sains berupa soal uraian pretest dan posttest dengan menggunakan 3 indikator literasi sains. Berdasarkan analisis deskriptif diperoleh hasil bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model Problem Based Learning dilihat dari rata-rata N-Gain untuk kelas kontrol sebesar 0,2744 pada kategori rendah dan kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,4904 pada kategori sedang. Hasil penelitian ini juga memperoleh hasil bahwa model Problem Based Learning memberikan pengaruh positif sebesar 66% terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains siswa yang menggunakan model Problem Based Learning lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional. Serta, adanya pengaruh positif penggunaan model Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa. ----- This research is motivated by the low scientific literacy ability of elementary school students. One effort that can be done is to apply the model Problem Based Learning. This study aims to determine and analyze the increase in scientific literacy skills of students who receive learning with models Problem Based Learning and students who get learning with conventional learning models and model influences Problem Based Learning on increasing the scientific literacy skills of elementary school students. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental designnon-equivalent control group and technique purposive sampling. The sample for this research was fourth grade students at one of the public elementary schools in Purwakarta, totaling 50 students, with 25 students each in grades IV A and IV B. The instrument used is an instrument of scientific literacy ability in the form of description questions pretest and posttest by using 3 indicators of scientific literacy. Based on the descriptive analysis, it was found that there was an increase in scientific literacy skills that received learning with models Problem Based Learning seen from the average N-Gain for the control class of 0.2744 in the low category and the experimental class of 0.4904 in the medium category. The results of this study also obtained the results that the model Problem Based Learning gave a positive influence of 66% on students' scientific literacy abilities. So it can be concluded that the increase in scientific literacy skills of students using models Problem Based Learning better than conventional learning. Also, there is a positive influence on the use of the model Problem Based Learning on students' scientific literacy abilities.
