Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan disekolah kurang membuat siswa aktif dalam belajar sehingga minimnya aktivitas berfikir siswa. Untuk menghadapi era globalisasi dengan segala tantangan dan problematika sangat penting bagi siswa untuk memiliki kemampuan penalaran matematis. Kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa di sekolah dasar masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Discovery Learning, dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan penelaran matematis siswa dengan menggunakan model Discovery Learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional di kelas II dan mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran dengan model Discovery Learning terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa di kelas II. Jenis penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent control group design. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu siswa kelas II B dan II C di SDN Purwamekar yang masing-masing kelas terdiri dari 33 siswa kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan soal tes kemampuan penalaran matematis. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa sekolah dasar yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model Discovery Learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional dengan n-gain kelas eksperimen 0,63 dan n-gain kelas kontrol 0,49 yang berada pada kategori sedang. Implementasi pembelajaran dengan model Discovery Learning memberikan pengaruh sebesar 56% terhadap peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa sekolah dasar. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas II sekolah dasar yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model Discovery Learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional serta implementasi pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model Discovery Learning berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa sekolah dasar. ----- This research is motivated by learning activities carried out in schools that do not make students active in learning so that the lack of student thinking activities. To face the era of globalization with all the challenges and problems, it is very important for students to have mathematical reasoning skills. The mathematical reasoning ability of students in elementary school is still relatively low. This study uses the Discovery Learning model, with the aim of determining the improvement of students' mathematical reasoning ability using the Discovery Learning model better than students who use conventional learning in grade II and knowing the effect of learning with the Discovery Learning model on the mathematical reasoning ability of students in grade II. This type of quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control group design. The samples used were grade II B and II C students at SDN Purwamekar which each class consisted of 33 experimental and control group students. The research instrument uses mathematical reasoning ability test questions. The results showed an increase in the mathematical reasoning ability of elementary school students who obtained learning with the Discovery Learning model better than students who obtained conventional learning with an experimental class n-gain of 0.63 and a control class n-gain of 0.49 which was in the moderate category. The implementation of learning with the Discovery Learning model has an influence of 56% on improving the mathematical reasoning ability of elementary school students. The conclusion of this study is that the mathematical reasoning ability of grade II elementary school students who obtain learning with the Discovery Learning model is better than students who obtain conventional learning and the implementation of learning by applying the Discovery Learning model affects the mathematical reasoning ability of elementary school students.
