Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan argumentasi sains siswa sekolah dasar pada pembelajaran IPA. Kemampuan argumentasi sains perlu dikuasai untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan sains dan memperkuat pemahaman siswa pada materi yang sedang dipelajari. Model pembelajaran yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu model pembelajaran kooperatif think pair share. Dengan diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif think pair share dapat melatih siswa untuk berfikir, menjawab dan saling membantu melalui komunikasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi sains siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran think pair share serta mengetahui dan menganalisis aktivitas belajar siswa selama menggunakan model pembelajaran think pair share. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes dan observasi dengan indikator claim, data, warrant, dan rebuttal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas desain Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil: 1) Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi sains siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran think pair share dilihat dari nilai rata-rata dan persentase ketuntasan klasikal. Nilai rata-rata tes kemampuan argumentasi sains siswa mengalami peningkatan dari pra siklus sebesar 48,4 menjadi 60,5 pada siklus I dan 78,2 pada siklus II. Ketuntasan klasikal mengalami peningkatan dari pra siklus 27,3% menjadi 45,5% pada siklus I dan 91% pada siklus II; 2) Terdapat peningkatan persentase aktivitas belajar siswa menggunakan model pembelajaran think pair share dari 87% pada siklus I menjadi 100% pada siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran think pair share dapat meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi sains siswa sekolah dasar. ----- This research is motivated by the low science argumentation skills of elementary school students in science learning. Science argumentation skills need to be mastered to increase scientific knowledge and strengthen students' understanding of the material being studied. The learning model used in this research is the think pair share cooperative learning model. By applying the cooperative learning model of think pair share, it can train students to think, answer and help each other through communication. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the improvement of students' science argumentation skills after applying the think pair share learning model and to determine and analyze student learning activities while using the think pair share learning model. The instruments used are tests and observations with indicators of claim, data, warrant, and rebuttal. The research method used is classroom action research design Kemmis and Mc. Taggart design. Based on the research conducted, the results obtained: 1) There is an increase in students' science argumentation skills after the implementation of the think pair share learning model seen from the average value and percentage of classical completeness. The average score of students' science argumentation skill test increased from pre-cycle of 48.4 to 60.5 in cycle I and 78.2 in cycle II. Classical completeness increased from pre-cycle 27.3% to 45.5% in cycle I and 91% in cycle II; 2) There was an increase in the percentage of student learning activities using the think pair share learning model from 87% in cycle I to 100% in cycle II. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the think pair share learning model can improve the science argumentation skills of elementary school students.
