Abstract

Kemampuan membaca permulaan merupakan suatu kemampuan dasar utama yang harus dimiliki oleh siswa kelas rendah sekolah dasar. Namun pada kenyaataannya, kemampuan membaca siswa masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode Steinberg berbantuan media pop up book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa di kelas 2 Sekolah Dasar Negeri 3 Ciseureuh Kabupaten Purwakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yaitu pre-eksperimental one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas 2 yang berjumlah 25 orang yang termasuk ke dalam kelas eksperimen. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu observasi dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat peningkatan antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode Steinberg berbantuan media pop-up book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 56,08 kemudian meningkat pada hasil nilai rata-rata posttest sebesar 77,88 (2) adanya pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan metode Steinberg berbantuan media pop up book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa yang diperoleh dari hasil uji hipotesis uji t-paired sample t test diperoleh nilai sig 2-tailed sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 sebagai taraf signifikansi. Sehingga hipotesis Ha yang menyatakan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan setelah penerapan metode Steinberg berbantuan media pop-up book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 2 SDN 3 Ciseureuh Kabupaten Purwakarta diterima. Besar pengaruh yang dihasilkan tersebut dibuktikan pada hasil uji linieritas (R Square) sebesar 0,664 yang artinya besar pengaruh metode Steinberg berbantuan media pop up book adalah 66,4% serta hasil rata-rata N-gain yaitu sebesar 0,54 yang artinya peningkatan nilai rata-rata menggunakan metode Steinberg berbantuan media pop up book berada pada kategori sedang. ----- Beginning reading ability is a major basic ability that must be possessed by low-grade elementary school students. But in reality, students' reading ability is still relatively low. This study aims to determine the effect of using the Steinberg method assisted by pop-up book media on students' initial reading ability in grade 2 Elementary School 3 Ciseureuh, Purwakarta Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach, namely the pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in this study were 25 grade 2 students who were included in the experimental class. Data collection methods used in this study are observation and tests. The results showed that: (1) there was an increase between before and after using the Steinberg method assisted by pop-up book media on students' initial reading ability. This is evidenced by the pretest average score of 56.08 then increased to the posttest average score of 77.88 (2) there is a significant effect of using the Steinberg method assisted by pop-up book media on students' initial reading ability obtained from the results hypothesis testing t-paired sample t-test obtained a sig 2-tailed value of 0.000 <0.05 as a significance level. So, the hypothesis Ha which states that there is a significant effect after the application of the Steinberg method assisted by pop-up book media on the initial reading ability of grade 2 students at SDN 3 Ciseureuh, Purwakarta Regency is accepted. The resulting influence is proven by the results of the linearity test (R Square) of 0.664, which means that the influence of the Steinberg method assisted by pop-up book media is 66.4% and the average N-gain result is 0.54, which means an increase in the average value -the average using the Steinberg method assisted by pop up book media is in the medium category.
