Abstract
Masyarakat sebagai salah satu aktor pembangunan, berperan penting dalam menentukan kualitas lingkungan permukiman, sikap dan perilaku masyarakat akan membawa dampak terhadap kualitas lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) mengukur kualitas lingkungan permukiman di kawasan Baleendah; 2) mengidentifikasi bentuk partisipasi masyarakat dalam menjaga kualitas lingkungan permukiman; 3) mengidentifikasi sejumlah faktor yang mempengaruhi partisipasi masyarakat dalam menjaga kualitas lingkungan permukiman; 4) menjabarkan kualitas lingkungan permukiman untuk pembelajaran geografi. Populasi penelitian ini adalah keseluruhan blok komplek permukiman yang ada di Baleendah dengan jumlah blok sebanyak 22, dengan jumlah KK 4.023. Sampel penelitian diambil secara random sampling dengan menggunakan rumus Taro Yamane. Blok sampel terdiri atas: 1) Komplek Balesarakan Baleendah; 2) Komplek KTSM; dan 3) Komplek Puri Cikarees. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan instrumen yang dilakukan dalam bentuk observasi dan kuesioner. Teknik analisis data menggunakan prosedur deskriptif dan analisis jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecenderungan bahwa kualitas lingkungan permukiman di Kecamatan Baleendah dapat dikatakan baik. Bentuk partisipasi dalam menjaga kualitas lingkungan terdiri atas buah pikiran/ide, harta/uang, tenaga, keterampilan dan kegiatan sosial. Faktor yang mempengaruhi partisipasi masyarakat adalah pendapatan, ketersediaan sarana prasarana, persepsi tentang kualitas lingkungan permukiman, peran tokoh masyarakat, motivasi dan jumlah anggota keluarga sangat berpengaruh dalam menjaga kualitas lingkungan di komplek permukiman. Kata kunci : Partisipasi Masyarakat, Kualitas Lingkungan Permukiman A community, as one of the development actors, plays a key role in determining the quality of settlement, the attitude and behavior of a community will implicate to the quality of an environment. The objectives of this study are: 1) to measure the environment quality in Baleendah sub-district, 2) to identify the form of community participation in maintaining the environment quality of settlements, 3) to identify some factors influencing the community participation in preserving the environment quality of settlements, and 4) to elucidate the environment quality of settlements for the learning of Geography. The population of this study is the whole blocks of settlements in Baleendah sub-district amounted to 22 blocks in total, with the numbers of family 4,023. The samples of this study are random sampling applying the formula of Taro Yamane which are resulted in block samples as follow: 1) Housing complex of Balesarakan Baleendah, 2) Housing complex of KTSM, and 3) Housing complex of Cikarees. The technique of data collection uses two instruments in form of observation and questionnaires. Meanwhile the technique of data analysis applies the descriptive and analytical procedure. The result of this study shows the tendency of good environment quality of settlements. The forms of community participation in improving the environment quality are the ideas, wealth/properties, services, social skills and activities. In the meantime, factors influencing the community participation are the income, the availability of public facilities, perception of the environment quality of settlements, the role of public figures, motivation, and the number of family members which plays significant role in maintaining the environment quality at the settlement complex. .
