Abstract

ABSTRAK Skripsi ini berjudul “Upaya Pelestarian Kesenian Sasapian Sebagai Salah Satu Warisan Budaya Desa Cihideung Kecamatan Parongpong Kabupaten Bandung Barat Tahun 1999-2017”. Penulisan skripsi ini dilatar belakangi adanya penyalahgunaan kesenian sasapian oleh beberapa oknum remaja di Desa Cihideung dan sekitarnya. Beberapa oknum remaja tersebut menggantikan proses kerasukan yang menjadi ciri khas kesenian sasapian dengan meminum minuman keras, tujuannya untuk memperoleh efek tidak sadarkan diri layaknya kerasukan. Ketidaktahuan beberapa oknum remaja tersebut terhadap sejarah, tata cara pertunjukan, dan nilai budaya yang terkandung di dalam kesenian sasapian, menjadi faktor utama terjadinya penyalahgunaan tersebut. Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam penelitian skripsi ini dimulai dari awal mula munculnya kesenian sasapian, proses peralihan fungsi kesenian sasapian, upaya pelestarian kesenian sasapian yang dilakukan oleh pihak seniman dan pemerintah daerah sejak tahun 1999-2017, hingga nilai budaya apa saja yang terkandung dalam kesenian sasapian. Penelitian skripsi ini menggunakan metode historis yang terdiri dari tahapan heuristik, kritik, dan historiografi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian skripsi ini, maka dapat diketahui bahwa kesenian sasapian muncul antara tahun 1920-1940-an. Pada awal kemunculannya, kesenian sasapian berfungsi sebagai sarana komunikasi ritual, namun fungsi tersebut beralih sejak tahun 2007 menjadi alat promosi pariwisata. Adapun upaya pelestarian kesenian sasapian yang dilakukan oleh pihak seniman berkisar pada kegiatan regenerasi, pendokumentasian, pernyelenggaraan pertunjukan, melakukan kreasi dan inovasi, serta mempromosikan kesenian sasapian ke berbagai daerah. Sedangkan upaya yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah daerah yaitu mengagendakan penyelenggaraan kesenian sasapian, melaksanakan pembinaan, dan turut mempromosikan kesenian sasapian. Nilai spiritual, nilai pendidikan, nilai gotong royong, dan nilai hiburan menjadi nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam kesenian sasapian. ABSTRACT This thesis is titled "Efforts to preserve the art of Sasapian as one of the cultural heritage of Cihideung subdistrict Parongpong District of West Bandung year 1999-2017". The writing of this thesis is in the background of the abuse of art by some teenagers in Cihideung village and surrounding areas. Some of the teenagers replace the process of possession that characterizes the art of sasapian by drinking, the aim of obtaining an unconscious effect like possession. The ignorance of some of the adolescent's history, the procedure of performances, and the cultural values contained in the art of sasapian, became a major factor in the occurrence of such abuses. The problems discussed in this thesis study began from the beginning of the art of sasapian, the process of transformation of art functions, the preservation of the art of the literature conducted by the artist and local government since the year 1999-2017, until the cultural value of what is contained in the Art of sasapian. Research on this thesis uses a historical method consisting of heuristic, critique, and historiography stages. Based on the results of this thesis study, it can be noted that the art of sasapian emerged between the years 1920-1940-an. At the beginning of its emergence, the art of sasapian serves as a means of ritual communication, but the function changed since the year 2007 became a promotional tool of tourism. The efforts to preserve the art of the sasapian conducted by the artists ranged from regeneration activities, documentation, a maintenance of performances, doing creations and innovation, and promoting the art of sasapian to various regions. While the efforts made by the local government is to take the implementation of the art of literature, conducting coaching, and also promoting the art of sasapian. The spiritual value, the value of education, the value of mutual assistance, and the value of entertainment is the cultural value contained in the art of sasapian.
