Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan menyelidiki penguasaan konsep, kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan kegiatan membaca siswa pada materi kesetimbangan melalui implementasi model pembelajaran Read-Answer-Design-Explain-Create (RADEC). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Pre - Experimental Design dengan bentuk One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Penelitian melibatkan 36 siswa SMA kelas XII di salah satu Sekolah Menengah Atas swasta di Kota Bandung. Mereka mendapat pembelajaran materi kesetimbangan kimia dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran RADEC. Instrumen penelitian berupa test penguasaan konsep untuk materi kesetimbangan kimia, angket, dan lembar observasi. Test diberikan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel dan SPSS versi 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran RADEC dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep (N-Gain rata-rata 48%, kategori sedang), keterampilan membaca pemahaman, dan jumlah siswa yang membaca buku teks pelajaran kimia sebelum dilakukan pembelajaran materi kesetimbangan kimia di kelas. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan model pembelajaran RADEC dapat meningkatkan kualitas proses dan hasil belajar siswa pada materi kesetimbangan kimia. The aim of this study was to identify the mastery of student’s concept, reading comprehension ability and student’s reading activity on chemistry equilibrium by Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-and Create (RADEC) model. The research used pre experimental method with one group pretest-posttest Design. The implementation of the study involved 36 XII grade students who haven’t study about chemistry equilibrium in one of the private high schools in Bandung. The instruments used in this research were chemistry equilibrium test, questionnaire and observation sheet. Given the test before and after study begin. Data were analyzed using Microsoft excel and SPSS 20 programme. The research result shows that RADEC learning model can increase mastery of student’s concept (average N-gain 48%, medium enchancement), reading comprehension ability and number of students who read before class begin. Thus, RADEC learning model can improve the quality of learning process and learning achievements on chemistry equilibrium.
