Abstract

Peran guru dalam memberikan feedback secara oral dalam pengajaran kemampuan berbicara sangat penting. Butuh pemahaman tertentu agar mencapai feedback yang efektif untuk pembelajaran yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan meneliti feedback secaraoral yang diberikan oleh guru dalam pembelajaran berbicara dan mengetahui tanggapan siswa terhadap feedback yang guru berikan. Penelitian ini melibatkan seorang guru dan tiga puluh dua murid dari salah satu SMP di Bandung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Oleh karena itu, sumber pengumpulan data penelitian melalui observasi kelas dan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan feedback secara oral dalam pembelajaran berbicara dapat memotivasi siswa, siswa juga mampu memahami kecakapan mereka dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris sehingga siswa dapat memiliki pencapaian yang lebih tinggi di masa mendatang. Analisis ini berfokus pada tiga aspek utama dalam kemampuan berbicara yaitu pelafalan, pemahaman, dan perbendaharaan kata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan feedback yang paling banyak diberikan oleh guru adalah approving (pengakuan) dan tanggapan siswa terhadap feedback oral yang diberikan adalah positif .-----Teacher’s role in providing oral feedback in teaching speaking is very important. It requires certain understanding to reach the effectiveness of feedback for effective learning. The research was aimed at investigating the oral feedback given by the teacher in teaching speaking and discovering the responses from the students toward teacher’s oral feedback used in teaching speaking.The research involved a teacher and 32 students from Junior High School in Bandung. The qualitative descriptive method was used to collect the data. Therefore,classroom observation, and interview were employed in this research.The results of the study indicate that by applying oral feedback in teaching speaking, the learners can be motivated and understand their ability of speaking English with the result that students could have higher achievement in the future. The analysis focused on the three speaking aspects that are pronunciation, comprehension, and vocabulary. The findings showed the most occurred category in oral feedback in teaching speaking was Approving and the students’ perceptions towards oral feedback in the classroom session was positive.
