Abstract
Sains dan teknologi mengalami perkembangan sangat pesat dalam lingkungan masyarakat yang dapat menimbulkan isu sosio-saintifik. Penalaran etika merupakan suatu refleksi pemikiran yang didasari oleh pendapat, pandangan nilai, dan norma yang berada di kalangan masyarakat mengenai isu kontroversial. Pengambilan keputusan adalah suatu penentuan piihan atau tindakan yang dipikirkan secara tepat dan berdasarkan pada fakta. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis tingkat penalaran etika, menganalisis aspek pengambilan keputusan, dan mengidentifikasi pengaruh perbedaan gender. Penelitian deskriptif ini untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan suatu keadaan yang tejadi di lapangan tanpa adanya kelas kontrol. Penalaran etika dikategorikan menjadi dua yaitu pemula dan lanjutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan lima aspek pengambilan keputusan yang diadopsi dari Bell & Lederman (2003). Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 21 siswa SMAN Kabupaten dan 38 siswa SMAN Kota. Instrumen berupa tes uraian dan angket tertulis mengenai isu vaksin meningitis. Hasil menunjukkan penalaran etika siswa SMAN Kabupaten dan SMAN Kota serta siswa perempuan dan laki-laki SMAN Kabupaten dan SMAN Kota termasuk kategori lanjutan (90,48%, 60,53%, 87,50% , 52%, 100% dan 67%), kategori pemula (9,52%, 39,47%, 12,50%, 48%, dan 33%). Pengambilan keputusan mengenai aspek keputusan akhir siswa SMAN Kabupaten dan SMAN Kota jawaban tidak setuju (66,67% dan 71,05%). Aspek mengidentifikasi keseimbangan dari solusi yang bersifat positif/negatif jawaban setuju sebanyak 100%. Kesimpulannya penalaran etika siswa SMAN Kabupaten dan siswa SMAN Kota baik siswa perempuana atau laki-laki lebih banyak masuk ke dalam kategori lanjutan. Pengambilan keputusan mengenai aspek keputusan akhir lebih banyak jawaban tidak setuju dan aspek mengidentifikasi keseimbangan dari solusi yang bersifat positif/negatif lebih banyak memberikan jawaban setuju.------ Science and technology are developing very rapidly in the community environment that can lead to socio-scientific issues. Ethical reasoning is a reflection of thought based on opinions, values, and norms that are in the community regarding controversial issues. Decision making is a determination of choices or actions that are thought out appropriately and are based on facts. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of ethical reasoning, analyze aspects of decision making, and identify the effects of gender differences. This descriptive study is to analyze and describe a situation that occurs in the field without a control class. Ethical reasoning is categorized into two namely beginner and advanced. This study uses five aspects of decision making adopted from Bell & Lederman (2003). The sample used was 21 students from district and 38 students city senior high schools. The instrument was in the form of a descriptive test and a written questionnaire on the issue of meningitis vaccine. The results show the ethical reasoning of district and city senior high school students as well as female and male including advanced categories (90.48%, 60.53%, 87.50%, 52%, 100% and 67%), beginner categories (9.52%, 39.47%, 12.50%, 48%, and 33%). Decision making regarding aspects of the final decision of district and city senior high school students disagreed answers (66.67% and 71.05%). Aspects of identifying a balance of solutions that are positive/negative agree as much as 100%. In conclusion, the ethical reasoning of district and city senior high schools students both female and male students fall into the more advanced categories. Decision making regarding the final decision aspect has more disagreement answers and the aspect of identifying a balance of positive/negative solutions gives more agreement answers.
