Abstract

Pandangan masyarakat terhadap fenomena catcall masih dianggap hal yang wajar dilakukan oleh laki-laki kepada perempuan, namun ini tidak berbanding lurus dengan dampak psikis yang diterima korban. Masyarakat cenderung menyalahkan korbannya, mereka beranggapan bahwa catcall ini terjadi karena faktor dari perempuan yang bersolek untuk menarik perhatian lawan jenisnya. Oleh karena itu, korban enggan untuk menceritakan kejadian yang diterimanya. Mahasiswi yang menjadi objek catcall enggan untuk menceritakan pengalamannya karena menganggap bahwa ini sebuah aib, sehingga catcall ini terus-menerus terjadi di sekitar kampus Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia karena tidak adanya penanganan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumentasi. Catcall yang terjadi di kalangan mahasiswi terjadi dalam dua bentuk yakni verbal dan non-verbal, di mana terjadi interaksi simbolik yang bermuatan seksual antara mahasiswi dengan pelaku. Hal ini memberikan dampak secara psikis kepada mahasiswi. Terjadinya catcall tidak terlepas dari faktor yang mendukung, pelaku yang mempunyai kebiasaan melakukan catcall karena adanya dorongan seksual, ini dapat terjadi karena pola asuh dalam keluarga ketika masih kecil. Penanganan catcall ini harus bersifat holistik dan terintegrasi. Semua sisi memerlukan pembenahan dan penanganan, baik dari aspek sisi individu, keluarga, aspek hukum, maupun dukungan sosial.;--- People’s view towards catcalling phenomenon is still considered as a natural thing for men to do, but this is not directly proportional to the psychological impact received by the victim. People tend to blame their victims, they assume that this catcall occurs due to the factor of women who are preening to attract the attention of the opposite sex. Therefore, victims are reluctant to share the incident they received. University students who become catcall objects are reluctant to share their experiences because they think that this is a shame, so that this catcall continues to occur around Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia due to the lack of handling action. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection technique of this research is done by doing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Catcalls that occur among university students is divided by two parts that are verbal and non-verbal, where there is a symbolic interaction that is sexually charged between university students and catcallers. This has a psychological impact on students. The occurrence of catcalling can’t detached from the supporting factors, catcallers who have a habit of doing catcall due to the sexual urge, it can occur due to parenting in the family when were a child. This catcall handling must be holistic and integrated. All the aspects require improvement and handling, both from the aspects of the individual, family, law aspects, and social support.
