Abstract
Penelitian ini untuk melihat gambaran hubungan minat peserta didik dengan pengambilan keputusan untuk memilih Program Studi Perpusinfo FIP UPI. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh masih rendahnya minat peserta didik terhadap program studi perpustakaan, yang bertolak belakang dengan semakin tingginya angka kebutuhan pustakawan dilapangan. Permasalahan umum yang dikaji pada penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana hubungan antara minat peserta didik dengan pengambilan keputusan untuk memilih Program Studi Perpusinfo FIP UPI. Dengan permasalahan khusus meliputi 1).bagaimana minat peserta didik terhadap Program Studi Perpusinfo FIP UPI; 2).bagaimana keputusan peserta didik untuk memilih Program Studi Perpusinfo FIP UPI. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif korelasional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling incidental, dengan jumlah sampel 86 responden. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik korelasi Spearman Rank dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa angket. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan minat peserta didik dengan pengambilan keputusan untuk memilih Program Studi Perpusinfo FIP UPI memiliki hubungan yang kuat. Secara khusus hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gambaran minat peserta didik berada dalam kategori sedang dan gambaran pengambilan keputusan untuk memilih Program Studi Perpusinfo FIP UPI berada dalam kategori sedang.;---This study was aimed to see an overview of the relationship between student’s interest and their decision-making for selecting Library and Information Science major in FIP UPI. The research based on the situation in which the number of learner’s interest in mentioned major is still at the minimum amount. This phenomenon is in contrast with the fact that the number of librarian needed in the field is highly increasing. The common issue that was being examined in this research was how the relationship between learner's interest and the decision-making to select the Library and Information Science major in FIP UPI. With special research question including 1) What does the learner’s interest toward the Library and Information Science major; 2) How are the learner’s decision to select Library and Information Science major. This research used a quantitative approach with the descriptive correlational method and the data were analyzed using Spearman’s Rank. In collecting the data, this research used questionnaire and sampling techniques used are incidental sampling with total sample of 86 respondents. The finding of the research showed that the relationship between learner’s interest learners and the decision making in selecting Library and Information Science major has a strong correlation. In particular, the results showed that the overview of learner’s interest are in the average category and an overview of decision making in selecting Library and Information Science major is in the average category as well.
