Abstract
Sampai saat ini telah banyak studi mengenai pentingnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Namun, studi-studi sebelumnya belum mengkaji pengaruh secara komprehensif. Studi meta-analisis ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besar ukuran efek yang terjadi apabila pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education diterapkan mampu meningkatkan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa, dan menganalisis karakteristik studi. Studi bersumber dari mesin pencarian Google Scholar dari tahun 2000 hingga 2023 diperoleh 18 ukuran efek pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Untuk meningkatkan presisi dalam perhitungan data, digunakan perangkat Comprehensive Meta-analysis (CMA) Ver. 4.0. Ukuran efek ini berdasarkan pada persamaan hedges’s dengan tingkat kepercayaan sebesar 95%. Menggunakan model efek acak diperoleh informasi ukuran efek pada pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan kategori tinggi. Terdapat delapan kajian karakteristik pada studi ini yang terdiri dari tahun penelitian, jenjang pendidikan, kelas penelitian, ukuran sampel, materi, letak geografis sekolah, status keterbantuan teknologi dan latar belakang pemecahan masalah. Berdasarkan karakteristik tersebut, hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa RME lebih efektif meningkatkan pemecahan masalah diterapkan pada materi aljabar. Temuan ini memberikan informasi kepada para pendidik bahwa berdasarkan hasil meta-analisis menunjukkan bahwa RME lebih efektif meningkatkan pemecahan masalah pada materi aljabar dibandingkan pada materi lainnya. Until now there have been many studies regarding the importance of problem-solving abilities using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. However, previous studies have not examined the effect comprehensively. This meta-analysis study aims to determine the size of the effect that occurs when the Realistic Mathematics Education approach is applied to improve students' mathematical problem-solving and analyze study characteristics. Studies sourced from the Google Scholar search engine from 2000 to 2023 obtained 18 effect sizes in students' mathematical problem-solving. To increase precision in data calculations, this study uses the Comprehensive Meta-analysis (CMA) Ver. 4.0. This effect size is based on the hedges's equation with a confidence level of 95%. Using the random effect model, effect size information was obtained on students' mathematical problem-solving in the high category. There are eight characteristic studies in this study consisting of the year of research, level of education, research class, sample size, material, geographic location of the school, status of technological assistance, and problem-solving background. Based on these characteristics, the study results show that RME is more effective in improving problem-solving applied to algebra material. These findings provide information to educators that based on meta-analysis results show that RME is more effective in improving problem-solving in algebra material compared to other materials.
