A quasi-experimental design is used in two classes of the seventh grade, Experimental group (N=40) and control group (N=40). The data are obtained through a pretest, a posttest, and questionnaires.According to statistical computation using t-test and effect size, the findings reveal that there is a different level of improvement between the experimental group and control group (tobt 3.557 > tcrit 2.000, r = 0.375) meaning that Mind Mapping technique is likely able to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. Dealing with the analysis result of questionnaires, the students give positive responses of using Mind Mapping technique in learning vocabulary. The students claim that this technique makes the materials more easily understood and memorized. In addition, this technique makes the learning process fun since they can explore their creativity by representing words linked briefly to around a central keyword with colorful lines, symbols, and images. This condition seems to improve the students’ self confidence and motivation in learning vocabulary.To sum up, Mind Mapping technique can significantly improve the students’ vocabulary mastery and the students give positive responses of using Mind Mapping technique in learning vocabulary.
