TY - THES N2 - This present study investigated the representation of social actor, Hosni Mubarak, in his resignation speech, and also the purpose of the representation itself. To analyze the data, a dialectical-relational approach proposed by Fairclough (2003) and socio-cognitive approach by Van Dijk (2009) were applied. These two approaches were used as the tools of analysis with the purpose of strengthening the findings of the analysis as well as showing the link or connection between one approach to another approach. The study found that the social actor, Hosni Mubarak, was represented in the way he addressed himself, the way he addressed the people, and the way he clarified several issues. Besides, the representation of the social actor was also classified in the six variables of analyzing social actor?s representation proposed by Fairclough (2003).
