description: Student engagement in learning process was very important. This research had a goal to explore about karakteristik student engagement in learning process deeply. Research design  using qualitatif with case study. The main subject of this research was three students and three teachers were adding informan to complete research data. The research was done at SMP Pasundan 4 Bandung. The scope of this research was how did students engagement in learning process. What effort  students did to increase students engagement in learning process. The benefit of this research was  giving base thinking in investigating about student engagement. The result of this research found that emotional engagement became an obstruction in increasing student engagement to influence other dimension. Besides that " questioning " was one of the effort student did to increase student engagement. Based on investigation student teacher relationship that teachers gave positive effect to increase student engagement. The invention of this research could be used as information to avoid feeling bored and indolent in learning, to  increase study program at school.
