Taking the emergence of translated books published in a great amount nowadays into account, this research was conducted to evaluate the books in regard to the aspects that have to be considered to produce a good translation. The translation theory proposed by Larson (1984) is applied as the main theoretical foundation of this research. Both the original book and the translation version were used as the sources of the data. Because all the sentences from both of the books are appropriate to be the data of the research, random sampling method proposed by Fraenkell & Wallen (1993) was employed to obtain 100 topic sentences as the representative samples. To determine the quality of the translation, the analysis focused on the three aspects of ideal translation namely accuracy, clarity and naturalness. 'The quality of the Indonesian-English translation of the book Jagalah Hati is poor because there is only 14% of the translation that is accurate, clear and natural. Moreover, 73% of the original meaning of the text is poor reproduced; not accurate. The rest 13% of the translation consists of the translation that is unclear and unnatural. This research is expected to contribute to the further translation study and translation practice that has relationship with religion concepts. date: 2008-08-01 date_type: published institution: Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia department: KODEPRODI79202#Bahasa_dan_Sastra_Inggris_S1 thesis_type: other thesis_name: other official_url: http://repository.upi.edu/ citation: Solikah, - (2008) AN ANALYSIS OF THE INDONESIAN-ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF JAGALAH HATI BY ABDULLAH GYMNASTIAR.
