abstract: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan moda transportasi Kereta Api sebagai angkutan untuk berwisata di Pulau Jawa dan menganalisis faktor yang dominan. Data dikumpulkan dari kuisioner yang disebarkan kepada 100 responden yang pernah menggunakan Kereta Api untuk perjalanan wisata. Metode kuantitatif deskriptif dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik analisis faktor untuk dapat menjawab rumusan masalah. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dari 22 faktor yang dianalisis terdapat 8 faktor yang terbentuk untuk mempengaruhi wisatawan dalam memilih moda transportasi kereta api sebagai angkutan pariwisata yaitu faktor keamanan dan kenyamanan, faktor pelayanan, faktor informasi, faktor fleksibilitas, faktor hemat energi, faktor ketepatan waktu, faktor aksesibilitas, dan faktor harga. Untuk meningkatkan persentase pemilihan kereta api sebagai moda transportasi di Indonesia, pemerintah khususnya PT KAI lebih memperhatikan faktor – faktor yang diteliti pada penelitian ini seperti faktor kemananan dan kenyamanan, pelayanan, informasi, fleksibilitas, penyuluhan mengenai hemat energi ke masyarakat, ketepatan waktu, aksesibilitas dan pertimbangan harga yang sesuai.

The purposes of this study is to identify the factors that influence the choice of a train as tourism transportation on Java Island and to analyze what factors are the most dominant. The data were collected from questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents who had used trains for travel. Descriptive quantitative method was chosen, and using the factor analysis techniques to be able to answer the problems. The results of this study indicate that, based on 22 factors analyzed, 8 factors are formed to influence tourists in choosing railway transportation as tourism transportation, they are safety and comfort factors, service, information, flexibility, energy-saving, timeliness, accessibility, and price factors. To increase the percentage of choosing train as a mode of transportation in Indonesia,the government, especially PT KAI pays more attention to the factors in this study, such as safety, service quality, information, flexibility, counseling about energy saving to community, etc.
