Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4-D (define, design, development, disseminate). Melibatkan 54 peserta didik dari tiga sekolah menengah pertama di kota Medan sebagai subjek penelitian. Sebelum implementasi, dilakukan uji coba keterlaksanaan terhadap 26 peserta didik yang berasal dari kelas paralel dalam salah satu sekolah yang dijadikan subjek penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data adalah pedoman wawancara, angket, dan soal tes menulis teks eksplanasi. Validasi dilakukan terhadap materi dan media komik strip digital. Melibatkan 6 validator, yaitu 3 validator untuk materi dan 3 validator untuk media komik strip digital. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) informasi yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara, analisis bahan ajar peserta didik, analisis dokumen nilai menulis teks eksplanasi, dan studi pustaka, digunakan sebagai bahan perencaan produk; 2) rancangan produk dinyatakan layak oleh ahli materi dan ahli media serta terbukti efektif karena nilai rata-rata kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi sudah melewati nilai KKM; 3) produk akhir didasarkan pada draf awal produk yang telah diperbaiki berdasarkan penilaian ahli dan telah diuji efektivitasnya; 4) guru dan peserta didik memberikan respons positif terhadap pembelajaran menggunakan bahan ajar menulis teks eksplanasi dengan teknik clustering berbantuan media komik digital. Kata kunci: bahan ajar, teknik clustering, media komik strip digital, teks eksplanasi Research on the development of teaching materials in learning to write explanatory texts with clustering assisted by digital comic strip media aims to determine the planning, feasibility, effectiveness, final product and the response of the participants to the product design. Involving 6 validators, namely 3 validators for material and 3 validators for digital comic strip media. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that 1) the information obtained from interviews, analysis of student teaching materials, analysis of the value of writing explanatory text documents, and literature studies were used as product planning materials; 2) the product design was declared feasible by material experts and media experts and proved to be effective because the average value of the ability to write explanatory texts has passed the KKM score; 3) the final product is based on the initial draft of the product that has been revised based on expert judgment and has been tested for effectiveness; 4) teachers and students give positive responses to learning using explanatory text writing teaching materials with clustering assisted by digital comic media.
