abstract: Penelitian didasarkan pada pentingnya kompetensi sosial-emosional sebagai kemampuan yang dapat memprediksi dan memahami perilaku seseorang. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memperoleh deskripsi profil kompetensi sosial-emosional siswa yang ditinjau secara umum, berdasarkan setiap aspek kompetensi sosial-emosional, berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan berdasarkan status sosial ekonomi keluarga siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 7 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 yang terdiri dari 12 kelas yaitu sebanyak 328 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi sosial-emosional siswa baik itu secara umum, berdasarkan aspek kompetensi sosial-emosional, berdasarkan jenis kelamin, dan berdasarkan status sosial ekonomi keluarga siswa berada pada kategori kompeten (competent). Implikasi dari penelitian adalah penyusunan program bimbingan dan konseling sosial untuk meningkatkan kompetensi sosial-emosional siswa.

This study is based on the importance of social-emotional competence as the ability to predict and understand people’s behavior. The objective of the study was to obtain a description of the socially-reviewed profile of student’s social-emotional competence, based on each aspect of social-emotional competence, gender and the socio-economic status of the student’s families. This research uses quantitative approach with descriptive method. The population in this study are students of 11th grade in SMA Negeri 7 Bandung Year 2016/2017 which consists of 12 classes as many as 328 students. The results showed that the student’s social-emotional competence in general, based on the social-emotional competence aspect, gender, and the socio-economic status of the student’s families are in the competent category. The implications of the research are the preparation of social guidance and counseling programs to improve student’s social-emotional competence.
