description: The study is entitled “The Representation of Negara Islam Indonesia (NII) on Online Newspapers: The Jakarta Post and Jakarta Globe”. It is aimed at investigating how Negara Islam Indonesia (NII) is represented in both newspapers. The data are articles of both newspaper taken from the internet. To gain the aim, the study employs descriptive approach to make a systematic description of collected data. The representation is examined by using transitivity proposed by Halliday (2004). The findings show that although the representation in the two newspapers appeared in different ways, The Jakarta Post and Jakarta Globe had generally represented NII as a similar entity by using similar processes. That is, NII is an evolving organization which are not favoured by the government because its underlying principles.
