Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model pembelajaran yang dapat mendukung peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas Problem-Based Learning berbasis ESD dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas IV sekolah dasar pada materi sumber daya alam. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah 30 peserta didik kelas IV di salah satu sekolah dasar negeri di Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes berupa dua belas soal uraian yang disusun berdasarkan indikator berpikir kritis. Data dianalisis melalui uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji paired sample t-test, serta analisis perbedaan terhadap skor N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan antara skor rata-rata pre-test sebesar 52 dan post-test sebesar 83,26, dengan hasil uji paired sample t-test pada taraf signifikansi < 0,05. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan Problem-Based Learning berbasis ESD dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik, ditunjukkan dengan skor N-Gain sebesar 64,38% yang termasuk dalam kategori cukup efektif. Dengan demikian, model ini dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu pilihan model pembelajaran yang layak digunakan guru dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas. This study was motivated by the problems encountered by fourth-grade elementary school students, namely their suboptimal critical thinking skills in science learning. Therefore, a learning model that can support the improvement of critical thinking skills is needed. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of ESD-based Problem-Based Learning in improving the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in natural resource material. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 30 fourth-grade students at a public elementary school in West Bandung Regency. The research instruments included a test consisting of twelve essay questions based on critical thinking indicators. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, and N-Gain score difference analyses. The results showed a significant increase between the pre-test average score of 52 and the post-test average score of 83.26, with the paired sample t-test results at a significance level of <0.05. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of ESD-based Problem-Based Learning in improving students' critical thinking skills, as indicated by an N-Gain score of 64.38%, is considered moderately effective.
