One effective non-pharmacological intervention is the Pursed Lip Breathing (PLB) technique, which improves ventilation and reduces dyspnea. Objective: To determine the effect of PLB on oxygen saturation in COPD patients treated in the emergency department (ED). Methods: This study employed a case study design with an evidence-based nursing practice approach. The sample included four COPD patients admitted to the ED of RSUD Umar Wirahadikusumah Sumedang. PLB was performed for 5–10 minutes in a semi-Fowler’s position. Oxygen saturation was measured before and after the intervention and analyzed descriptively. Results: All patients experienced increased oxygen saturation after the PLB intervention. The most significant improvement was observed in patients with initial saturation levels below 90%. Patients also reported decreased dyspnea and improved breathing comfort. Conclusion: PLB is effective in improving oxygen saturation and can be independently implemented by nurses as an evidence-based, non-pharmacological nursing intervention for COPD patients in emergency settings.
