Masyarakat madani sebagai cita ideal kehidupan berbangsa menuntut adanya ruang publik yang bebas, demokrasi yang substansial, kemajemukan, toleransi, dan keadilan sosial. Pemikiran Anies dipandang sejalan dengan gagasan pendidikan kritis yang transformatif, di mana pendidikan harus menciptakan warga negara yang berdaya, kritis, dan aktif dalam ruang sosial-politik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis isi, mengkaji teks dari buku Memenangkan Indonesia serta didukung oleh teori masyarakat madani dari para pemikir seperti Antonio Gramsci, Jurgen Habermas, Michael Walzer, hingga Joel Westheimer & Joseph Kahne. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Anies Baswedan memposisikan pendidikan sebagai alat pembebasan, memperjuangkan kesetaraan dalam partisipasi warga, serta mendorong keberanian berpikir dan bertindak di tengah keberagaman. Pemikirannya terbukti relevan dengan teori-teori masyarakat madani karena menekankan perlunya ruang publik yang demokratis dan inklusif, serta pentingnya peran pendidikan dalam membentuk karakter warga negara yang aktif dan bertanggung jawab. Kesimpulannya, pemikiran Anies dapat dijadikan rujukan dalam memperkuat nilai-nilai masyarakat madani dalam praktik Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan di Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the thoughts of Anies Baswedan in his book Memenangkan Indonesia and their relevance to the concept of civil society in Civic Education. Civil society, as an ideal of national life, requires the existence of a free public sphere, substantial democracy, pluralism, tolerance, and social justice. Anies’s ideas are in line with the perspective of critical and transformative education, in which education is seen as a means to empower citizens to be critical, independent, and active in sociopolitical spaces. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis as its method, examining the text of Memenangkan Indonesia and supported by theories of civil society from thinkers such as Antonio Gramsci, Jurgen Habermas, Michael Walzer, and Joel Westheimer & Joseph Kahne. The findings indicate that Anies Baswedan positions education as a tool of emancipation, advocates for equality in civic participation, and encourages independent thought and action amid diversity. His ideas are relevant to civil society theories as they emphasize the need for a democratic and inclusive public sphere, as well as the crucial role of education in shaping active and responsible citizenship.
