Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pendidikan karakter yang terkandung dalam tari Kembang Bulan melalui pendekatan etnokoreologi. Fokus utama penelitian meliputi analisis struktur koreografi, tata rias, busana, properti, serta pendidikan karakter yang tertanam di dalamnya: baik dari gerak, busana, maupun dalam proses latihan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode paradigma deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan kualitataif yang dikaji menggunakan etnokorelogi secara tekstual (koreografi, rias, busana, dan properti) dan kontekstual (pendidikan karakter) dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Analisis data menggunakan teknik triangulasi (observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi) dengan langkah-langkah: reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tari Kembang Bulan merupakan tari kreasi baru berpola tradisi yang tidak hanya menampilkan estetika gerak, tetapi juga memuat pendidikan karakter. Karakter tersebut mencakup religius, cinta tanah air, kerja keras, tanggung jawab, bersahabat, menghargai prestasi, dan rasa ingin tahu; serta karakter lokal budaya Sunda seperti cageur, bageur, bener, pinter, dan singer. Analisis koreografi menggunakan Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) berhasil mengidentifikasi kategori gerak yang memuat gerak perpindahan (locomotion), gerak murni (pure movement), gerak maknawi (gesture), dan gerak penguat ekspreasi (baton signal). Dari hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tari Kembang Bulan layak dijadikan media pembelajaran karakter dilingkungan pendidikan, khususnya dalam kegiatan ekstrakurikuler seni tari berbasis budaya lokal. This research is motivated by the uniqueness of the Kembang Bulan dance in terms of its movements, makeup, and properties. The purpose of this study is to examine the character education embedded in the Kembang Bulan dance through an ethnochoreological approach. The main focus of the research includes an analysis of choreographic structure, makeup, costume, properties, and the character education contained within them: whether through movement, costume, or the training process. This study employs a descriptive-analytical paradigm with a qualitative approach, examined through ethnochoreology in both textual aspects (choreography, makeup, costume, and properties) and contextual aspects (character education), using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The data were analyzed using triangulation techniques (observation, interviews, documentation) with the steps of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the Kembang Bulan dance is a newly created dance based on traditional patterns that not only presents movement aesthetics but also contains character education. The values identified include religiousness, patriotism, hard work, responsibility, friendliness, appreciation of achievement, and curiosity, as well as local Sundanese cultural values such as cageur (healthy), bageur (kind), bener (righteous), pinter (smart), and singer (creative/diligent). Choreographic analysis using Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) successfully identified movement categories including locomotion, pure movement, gesture, and expression-enhancing movements (baton signals). Based on these findings, it is concluded that the Kembang Bulan dance is suitable to be used as a medium for character education in educational settings, particularly in extracurricular activities of traditional dance based on local culture.
