Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh tuntutan Kurikulum Merdeka yang tidak hanya menekankan kemampuan akademik, tetapi juga pembentukan karakter melalui pembelajaran kontekstual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus dan dilaksanakan di SDN 63 Surabayo Kabupaten Agam. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi yang melibatkan guru dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program P5 memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap perkembangan karakter siswa. Siswa lebih mampu menyelesaikan tugas secara mandiri, memecahkan masalah, dan berpikir kritis terhadap lingkungan sekitarnya. Namun, tantangan seperti keterbatasan sarana prasarana dan kurangnya kesiapan guru masih menjadi hambatan dalam pelaksanaan optimal. Meskipun demikian, program P5 terbukti sebagai langkah konstruktif dalam mengintegrasikan pendidikan karakter ke dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Kreativitas guru dalam merancang proyek dan kolaborasi dengan orang tua sangat berperan dalam keberhasilan program ini. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa inisiatif P5 memiliki potensi besar dalam memperkuat karakter siswa jika didukung dengan bimbingan, infrastruktur, dan keterlibatan pemangku kepentingan yang memadai. This study examines the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in fostering the character of independence and critical thinking among fifth-grade elementary school students. The background of this research stems from the demand of the Merdeka Curriculum to cultivate not only academic skills but also student character through contextual learning. Using a qualitative descriptive approach wich a case study method the study was conducted at SDN 63 Surabayo in Agam Regency. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving teachers and students. The findings show that the P5 program contributes positively to character development. Students are more capable of completing tasks independently, solving problems, and thinking critically about their environment. However, challenges such as limited facilities and lack of teacher readiness still hinder optimal implementation. Despite these obstacles, the P5 program proves to be a constructive step in integrating character education into learning activities. Teachers’ creativity in designing projects and collaboration with parents are essential to the success of the program.
