Toto Subroto, M.Pd. : 6067858 Dr. Sufyar Mudjianto, M.Pd. : 6198983 abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat partisipasi olahraga dengan kecerdasan emosional siswa SMP. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei dan desain korelasional. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 3 Cimahi, dengan sampel sebanyak 100 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescent (PAQ-A) untuk mengukur tingkat partisipasi olahraga, serta Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Adolescent Short Form (TEIQue-ASF) untuk mengukur kecerdasan emosional. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji normalitas, uji linearitas, dan uji korelasi Pearson dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 29. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat partisipasi olahraga siswa berada pada kategori sedang dengan rata-rata skor 2,795, sedangkan kecerdasan emosional berada pada kategori cukup baik dengan rata-rata skor 73,62. Uji korelasi Pearson menghasilkan koefisien korelasi sebesar -0,152 dengan signifikansi 0,131 (> 0,05), yang berarti hubungan antara kedua variabel bersifat negatif sangat lemah dan tidak signifikan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat partisipasi olahraga tidak memiliki hubungan yang bermakna dengan kecerdasan emosional siswa. Dengan demikian, pengembangan kecerdasan emosional siswa tidak dapat hanya mengandalkan partisipasi olahraga, tetapi juga memerlukan dukungan faktor lain seperti pembinaan mental, lingkungan sosial yang positif, dan dukungan keluarga. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of sports participation and the emotional intelligence of junior high school students. The research employed a quantitative approach with a survey method and correlational design. The population consisted of all ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Cimahi, with a sample of 100 students selected using stratified random sampling. The instruments used were the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescent (PAQ-A) to measure the level of sports participation, and the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Adolescent Short Form (TEIQue-ASF) to measure emotional intelligence. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, linearity tests, and Pearson correlation tests with the aid of SPSS version 29 software.The results showed that students’ sports participation level was in the medium category with an average score of 2.795, while their emotional intelligence was in the fairly good category with an average score of 73.62. The Pearson correlation test yielded a correlation coefficient of -0.152 with a significance value of 0.131 (> 0.05), indicating a very weak negative and statistically insignificant relationship between the two variables. These findings suggest that the level of sports participation does not have a meaningful relationship with students’ emotional intelligence.
