Daun pandan memiliki potensi besar sebagai bahan baku kerajinan berkelanjutan karena ketersediaannya yang melimpah, karakteristik serat yang kuat, dan kemampuan regenerasi yang baik. Namun, pengembangan daun pandan sebagai material kerajinan berkualitas tinggi memerlukan pemahaman mendalam tentang metode pengolahan yang optimal. Metodologi penelitian menggunakan pendekatan eksperimental dengan sembilan spesimen yang mendapat perlakuan berbeda. Setiap spesimen dianalisis secara komprehensif untuk memahami pengaruh perlakuan awal terhadap karakteristik fisiko-kimia material. Tahapan penelitian dimulai dengan klasifikasi dan standardisasi ukuran daun pandan berdasarkan dimensi lebar dan panjang, dilanjutkan dengan proses pembersihan sistematis untuk menghilangkan kontaminan dan duri-duri kecil. Proses pemotongan dilakukan sesuai standar dimensi yang telah ditetapkan dengan membuang bagian tulang daun untuk mengoptimalkan fleksibilitas material. Setiap spesimen kemudian diuji dengan berbagai metode pengeringan untuk mengidentifikasi teknik yang menghasilkan keseimbangan optimal antara efisiensi waktu, kualitas tekstur, dan daya tahan material. Eksplorasi pewarnaan dilakukan menggunakan bahan pewarna alami dari ekstraksi kunyit, daun suji, dan daun jati dengan variasi pelarut air biasa dan air kapur. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam pengembangan industri kerajinan berkelanjutan dengan menyediakan panduan komprehensif untuk pengolahan daun pandan menjadi material berkualitas tinggi yang dapat bersaing di pasar global. This research aims to analyze the processing of pandan leaves as handicraft materials through stages of harvesting, cleaning, cutting, pre-treatment, drying, and coloring. Pandan leaves have great potential as sustainable handicraft raw materials due to their abundant availability, strong fiber characteristics, and good regeneration capacity. However, developing pandan leaves as high-quality handicraft materials requires deep understanding of optimal processing methods. The research methodology uses an experimental approach with nine specimens receiving different treatments. Each specimen is analyzed comprehensively to understand the effect of pre-treatment on the physico-chemical characteristics of the material. The research stages begin with classification and standardization of pandan leaf sizes based on width and length dimensions, followed by systematic cleaning processes to remove contaminants and small thorns. The cutting process is carried out according to established dimensional standards by removing the leaf midrib parts to optimize material flexibility. Each specimen is then tested with various drying methods to identify techniques that produce optimal balance between time efficiency, texture quality, and material durability. Coloring exploration is conducted using natural dyes from turmeric extraction, suji leaves, and teak leaves with variations of ordinary water and lime water solvents.
