High schools subject: M Music description: Pelestarian budaya lokal merupakan tanggung jawab bersama yang dapat diwujudkan melalui jalur pendidikan, salah satunya melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler kesenian di sekolah. Namun, dalam praktiknya, pembelajaran seni vokal dalam ekstrakurikuler sering kali belum menekankan pada unsur kekhasan musikal tradisional, khususnya ornamen vokal Sunda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan ornamen vokal Sunda seperti riak, reureueus, gibeg dan leot dalam kegiatan esktrakurikuler Lingkung Seni Sunda di SMA Negeri 9 Bandung, sebagai upaya membentuk kompentensi vokal peserta serta meningkatkan apresiasi terhadap kekayaan musikal lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian action research model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart, yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan empat tahapan setiap siklusnya, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data kualitatif berupa hasil observasi kegiatan pembelajaran, wawancara dengan peserta didik dan pembina, serta dokumentasi selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi parsipatif, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi ornamen vokal Sunda secara bertahap mampu meningkatkan keterampilan vokal siswa dalam membawakan kawih tradisional. Peserta didik menjadi lebih memahami fungsi dan karakteristik masing-masing ornamen serta mampu mengaplikasikannya pada lagu “Cinta Nusa” karya Mang Koko. Selain itu, terdapat peningkatan antusiasme dan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam setiap pertemuan. Dengan demikian, implementasi ornamen vokal Sunda tidak hanya memperkuat kompetensi musikal siswa, tetapi juga menjadi sarana efektif untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai budaya melalui kegiatan edukatif yang kontekstual dan inspiratif. The preservation of local culture is a shared responsibility that can be realized through education, particularly via extracurricular art programs in schools. However, in practice, vocal training within such activities often lack emphasis on the unique characteristics of tradisional music, especially Sundanese vokal ornamentation. This study aims to implement Sundanese vocal ornaments, such as riak, reureueus, gibeg, and leot in the extracurricular activities of Lingkung Seni Sunda at SMA Negeri 9 Bandung, with the goal of enhancing students vocal competence and appreciation of local musical heritage. This research employs the Action Research method based on the Kemmis and Mc Taggart model, conducted over two cycles with four stages in each: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The type of data used is qualitative, consisting of observational notes, interviews with students and instructors, and documentation of the learning process. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation. The finding indicate that the gradual implementation of Sundanese vokal ornaments effectively improved students vocal skills in performing traditional kawih. Students develoved a deeper understanding of the function and characteristics of each ornament and were able to apply them appropriately to the song “Cinta Nusa” by Mang Koko. Additionally, student enthusiasm and active participation increased in each meeting, suggesting that a practice based learning strategy grounded in local culture fosters meaningful and engaging learning experiences. In conclusion, the implementation of Sundanese vocal ornaments not only strengthens students musical competence but also serves as an effective medium to instill cultural values through contextual and inspiring educational activities.
