Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah tujuh siswa dengan tiga tingkat kemampuan akademik yang berbeda, yaitu dua siswa kemampuan tinggi, tiga siswa kemampuan sedang, dan dua siswa kemampuan rendah. Siswa yang dimaksud merupakan individu yang telah mempelajari materi sel volta. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa Tes Diagnostik Model Mental Interview About Event (TDM-IAE). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pada konsep kespontanan reaksi, ditemukan tiga tipe model mental yaitu tipe PU (Partial Understanding), tipe NU (No Understanding), dan tipe SM (Specific Misconception). Pada konsep sel volta 1 kompartemen, ditemukan tiga tipe model mental yaitu tipe PU (Partial Understanding), tipe NU (No Understanding), dan SM (Specific Misconception). Pada konsep sel volta 2 kompartemen, ditemukan empat tipe model mental yaitu tipe SU (Sound Understanding), tipe PU-SM (Partial Understanding with a specific misconception), tipe PU (Partial Understanding) dan tipe SM (Specific Misconception). This study aims to obtain the profile of students' mental models on voltaic cell material. The participants in this study were seven students with three different levels of academic ability, namely two high ability students, three medium ability students, and two low ability students. The students in this research are individuals who have studied voltaic cell material. The method used is qualitative with descriptive analysis using research instruments in the form of Diagnostic Test of Mental Interview Model About Event (TDM-IAE). Based on the results of the study, on the concept of spontaneous reaction, three types of mental models were found, namely PU (Partial Understanding), NU (No Understanding), and SM (Specific Misconception). On the concept of 1-compartment voltaic cells, three types of mental models were found, namely PU (Partial Understanding), NU (No Understanding), and SM (Specific Misconception).
