Penelitian ini menyelidiki bagaimana Readers’ Theater, sebuah strategi pengajaran yang menggabungkan membaca dan pertunjukan, dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa EFL kelas sembilan, menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kelancaran, ketepatan, pelafalan, dan kosa kata. Penelitian ini dilakukan di sebuah kursus bahasa Inggris di luar sekolah di Kabupaten Bandung, menggunakan desain intervensi kelas kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui penilaian pretest-posttest, mengevaluasi performa berbicara dan observasi kelas selama intervensi Readers’ Theater. Intervensi berlangsung selama empat pertemuan, menerapkan empat tahap: pengenalan dan pemahaman makna cerita, pembagian peran, latihan, dan pertunjukan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan berbicara siswa, dengan peningkatan yang mencolok dalam hal kelancaran, ketepatan, pelafalan, dan kosa kata. Lingkungan yang mendukung dan kolaboratif dari Readers’ Theater juga meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam berbicara. Penelitian ini menegaskan efektivitas Readers’ Theater sebagai alat pedagogis dalam konteks EFL dan menunjukkan potensinya untuk penerapan yang lebih luas dalam pengajaran bahasa. Penelitian lanjutan direkomendasikan untuk mengeksplorasi dampak jangka panjangnya dan aplikasinya pada berbagai kelompok usia dan tingkat kemahiran. Speaking is a fundamental component of language acquisition, crucial for academic success, social interaction, and professional opportunities. This research investigates how Readers’ Theater, an instructional strategy that combines reading and performance, can improve the speaking skills of ninth-grade EFL learners, showing significant enhancements in fluency, accuracy, pronunciation, and vocabulary. The study was conducted at an English course outside of school in Kabupaten Bandung, employing a quantitative classroom intervention design. Data were collected through pretest-posttest assessments, evaluating speaking performances and classroom observation during Readers’ Theater intervention. The intervention spanned four meetings, deploying four stages: introduction and establishing a story's meaning, dividing roles, practice, and performance. The findings revealed significant improvements in students' speaking abilities, with notable increases in fluency, accuracy, pronunciation, and vocabulary. The supportive and collaborative environment of Readers’ Theater also boosted students' confidence in speaking. This study underscores the effectiveness of Readers’ Theater as a pedagogical tool in EFL contexts and suggests its potential for broader application in language teaching.
