"The global construction industry has been criticised for its slow adoption of\r\ntransformative technologies, with persistent challenges of fragmentation, poor\r\ncommunication, and weak coordination. Building Information Modeling (BIM) has\r\nemerged as a promising solution to address these inefficiencies by enhancing\r\ncollaboration and project delivery. In Ghana, however, BIM adoption remains\r\nlimited, largely due to systemic, organizational, and contextual barriers. Against the\r\nbackdrop of global digital transformation, understanding the dynamics of BIM\r\nadoption in Ghana is critically important. This study investigated BIM awareness,\r\nadoption readiness, influential factors, perceived impacts on project performance,\r\nand strategies for effective adoption. An exploratory sequential mixed-methods\r\ndesign was employed, beginning with semi-structured interviews of 21 construction\r\nindustry stakeholders, followed by a nationwide survey of 380 construction\r\nprofessionals. Qualitative data were analysed thematically, while quantitative data\r\nwere examined using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and Structural Equation\r\nModelling (SEM). The findings reveal that although BIM awareness is widespread,\r\npractical knowledge and skills remain insufficient. Organizational and\r\ntechnological readiness is also low, characterized by inadequate digital\r\ninfrastructure, limited strategic planning, and weak leadership support. Key drivers\r\nof adoption include improved visualization, collaboration, and cost efficiency,\r\nwhile major barriers include a shortage of skilled professionals, poor IT systems,\r\nand lack of regulatory frameworks. Importantly, BIM adoption was perceived to\r\nsignificantly improve project performance by enhancing coordination, project\r\nquality, and change order management. The study contributes a context-specific\r\nBIM Adoption Framework for Ghana, providing a practical roadmap for\r\nimplementation. Unlike previous fragmented studies, this research offers the first\r\nintegrated, industry-wide assessment of BIM adoption in Ghana, filling a critical\r\ngap. Theoretically, it advances knowledge on BIM adoption in developing contexts;\r\npractically, it provides actionable strategies for policymakers and construction\r\nindustry stakeholders to drive digital transformation in the construction sector. \r\n\r\nIndustri konstruksi global telah dikritik karena lambatnya adopsi teknologi yang\r\ntransformatif, dengan tantangan yang terus-menerus berupa fragmentasi,\r\nkomunikasi yang buruk, dan koordinasi yang lemah. Building Information\r\nModeling (BIM) muncul sebagai solusi yang menjanjikan untuk mengatasi\r\nketidakefisienan ini dengan meningkatkan kolaborasi dan pelaksanaan proyek.\r\nNamun, di Ghana, adopsi BIM masih terbatas, terutama karena hambatan sistemik,\r\norganisasional, dan kontekstual. Dalam konteks transformasi digital global,\r\nmemahami dinamika adopsi BIM di Ghana menjadi sangat krusial. Studi ini\r\nmenyelidiki tingkat kesadaran terhadap BIM, kesiapan adopsi, faktor-faktor yang\r\nberpengaruh, dampak yang dipersepsikan terhadap kinerja proyek, serta strategi\r\nuntuk adopsi yang efektif. Desain metode campuran sekuensial eksploratori\r\ndigunakan, dimulai dengan wawancara semi-terstruktur terhadap 21 pemangku\r\nkepentingan industri, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan survei berskala nasional\r\nterhadap 380 profesional konstruksi. Data kualitatif dianalisis secara tematik,\r\nsedangkan data kuantitatif diuji menggunakan statistik deskriptif, analisis faktor,\r\ndan Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Temuan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun\r\nkesadaran terhadap BIM sudah luas, pengetahuan dan keterampilan praktis masih\r\nbelum memadai. Kesiapan organisasional dan teknologi juga rendah, yang ditandai\r\noleh infrastruktur digital yang kurang memadai, perencanaan strategis yang\r\nterbatas, serta dukungan kepemimpinan yang lemah. Pendorong utama adopsi\r\nmencakup peningkatan visualisasi, kolaborasi, dan efisiensi biaya, sementara\r\nhambatan utama meliputi kelangkaan tenaga profesional terampil, sistem TI yang\r\nburuk, dan ketiadaan kerangka regulasi. Pentingnya, adopsi BIM dipersepsikan\r\nsecara signifikan meningkatkan kinerja proyek melalui peningkatan koordinasi,\r\nkualitas proyek, dan pengelolaan perubahan pekerjaan (change order). Studi ini\r\nmenyumbangkan Kerangka Adopsi BIM yang spesifik konteks untuk Ghana,\r\nmenyediakan peta jalan praktis bagi implementasi. Berbeda dari studi-studi\r\nsebelumnya yang terfragmentasi, riset ini menawarkan penilaian terintegrasi\r\npertama secara lintas industri mengenai adopsi BIM di Ghana, sehingga mengisi\r\nkesenjangan kritis.
