N2  - This research addresses the increasing visitor numbers at Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda, Bandung, necessitating a comprehensive assessment of its tourism capacity. The study aims to estimate the physical carrying capacity (PCC) of the area, identify factors influencing this capacity, and compare existing conditions with the analytical results. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research utilizes primary and secondary data on active tourism area, individual space requirements, available facilities and trails, daily/annual visitor numbers, and average visit duration, gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved the Cifuentes (1992) formula for PCC calculation and descriptive analysis for influencing factors and existing conditions. The analysis reveals a PCC of 1.228 visitors per day for Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda. This capacity is primarily influenced by the effective active area for tourism, visitor visit duration and rotation patterns, the capacity and distribution of supporting facilities, and visitor behavior. Comparison with existing conditions indicates that the peak visitor numbers (reaching approximately 7,000 visitors/day) are approaching the theoretical carrying capacity, leading to spatial and functional imbalances. High visitor concentration in specific areas (e.g., main trails, Japanese Cave, Dutch Cave) and the uneven distribution of facilities highlight an unproportional ecological pressure and localized density. These findings underscore that carrying capacity management requires consideration beyond just total visitor numbers, emphasizing the crucial need for spatial distribution analysis of activities and facilities.
