Hal tersebut dikarenakan kurangnya pembelajaran yang intensif di tahap awal dan minimnya variasi metode dan media pembelajaran. Metode Montessori berbantuan media Large Moveable Alphabet sebagai cara pembelajaran yang disesuaikan dengan tingkat perkembangan anak dengan melibatkan anak melalui aktivitas fisik dari media konkret berbentuk huruf alfabet yang digunakan sebagai pendukung aktivitas motorik, sensorik dan memori kerja anak dalam belajar membaca, sehingga peneliti ingin mengetahui sejauh mana keterampilan membaca siswa yang mengalami kesulitan membaca dapat berkembang dengan penggunaan metode dan media tersebut. Metode penelitian eksperimen dengan desain Single Subject Research pola A-B-A yang terdiri dari 3 fase, di antaranya Baseline (A1), Intervensi (B) dan Baseline (A2). Penelitian dilakukan dalam tiga sesi untuk setiap fase, melibatkan satu siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar (SD) yang kesulitan membaca. Perilaku yang diubah meliputi keterampilan membaca huruf, suku kata, dan kata yang terdiri atas kata tidak bermakna dan bermakna berdasarkan instrumen penilaian membaca EGRA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mean level keterampilan membaca subjek meningkat dari 69,7% pada fase A1, menjadi 91,8% pada fase B, dan 97,2% pada fase A2. Hasil tersebut juga didukung oleh persentase overlap dan kecenderungan stabilitas data yang menunjukkan bahwa metode Montessori berbantuan media Large Moveable Alphabet dianggap efektif dalam memberikan pengaruh terhadap keterampilan membaca pada siswa kesulitan membaca. Bagi penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk dilakukan dengan jumlah subjek ataupun jenjang kelas yang berbeda guna menguji keberlanjutan efektivitas metode Montessori dan media Large Moveable Alphabet. This study is based on the problem of fourth-grade elementary students who have reading difficulties and are not yet fluent. This difficulty is caused by insufficient intensive early-stage learning and limited variety in teaching methods and media. The Montessori method, supported by the Large Moveable Alphabet media, is used as a learning approach adapted to the child’s development level, involving physical activities with concrete alphabet letters. This supports the child’s motor, sensory, and working memory skills in learning to read. The researcher aims to find out how much reading skills improve in students with reading difficulties through this method and media. The research used an experimental single subject design with an A-B-A pattern, including three phases: Baseline (A1), Intervention (B), and Baseline (A2). The study involved one fourth-grade student with reading difficulties, conducted over three sessions in each phase. The behaviors targeted were reading letters, syllables, and words consisting of both nonsense and meaningful words, based on the EGRA reading assessment. Results showed the subject’s average reading skill increased from 69.7% in phase A1 to 91.8% in phase B, and 97.2% in phase A2. The results were supported by the percentage of overlap and the data stability trend, which indicate that the Montessori method assisted by the Large Moveable Alphabet media is considered effective in influencing the reading skills of students with reading difficulties.
