Identifikasi miskonsepsi penting untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan instrument Four- tier Diagnostic Test untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa pada materi dinamika litosfer di SMA Kota Cianjur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Quasi-ekperimental dengan model pengembangan 3D dengan Rash Model, yang terdiri atas tahap define, design, develop. Teknik sampling dilakukan menggunakan purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 440 siswa dari 5 SMA di Kota Cianjur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecenderungan bahwa instrument For Tier Diagnostic Test setelah melakukan validitas dan reabilitas layak digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi. Tingkat miskonsepsi siswa mayoritas dalam kategori miskonsepsi ringan sebanyak 317 siswa (72%). The misconception rate regarding lithosphere dynamics material is quite high, with 72% of students in senior high schools (SMA) in Cianjur Regency showing discrepancies between their understanding and the correct scientific concepts. Identifying misconceptions is essential to improve the effectiveness of learning. This study aims to develop a Four-Tier Diagnostic Test instrument to identify students’ misconceptions about lithosphere dynamics material in senior high schools in Cianjur City. The research employed a quasi-experimental method using a 3D development model with the Rasch Model, consisting of the stages of define, design, and develop. The sampling technique applied was purposive sampling with a total sample of 440 students from five senior high schools in Cianjur City. The results of the study indicate that the Four-Tier Diagnostic Test instrument, after undergoing validity and reliability testing, is feasible to be used to identify misconceptions.
