Salah satu keterampilan yang paling dibutuhkan di dunia kerja/industri adalah collaboration skill. Collaboration skill dapat ditingkatkan jika keinginan, motivasi, dan minat muncul pada diri sendiri. Dalam hal pendidikan, pembelajaran adaptif dapat dijadikan solusi untuk menghadapi tantangan tersebut karena pembelajaran ini mampu menyesuaikan jenis pembelajaran dengan karakter dan latar belakang individu. Teknologi dibutuhkan untuk membantu pengajaran menentukan pembelajaran adaptif yang tepat. Sehingga, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan sistem rekomendasi pembelajaran adaptif dalam mendukung collaboration skill mahasiswa, dengan menggunakan pendekatan berbasis aturan (rule-based) yang mengintegrasikan forward chaining dan backward chaining. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode Research and Development (R&D), mengacu pada Smart Learning Environment Establishment Guideline (SLEEG) dan mengikuti model ADDIE. Hasil pengujian dengan statistik deskriptif menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kemampuan awal collaboration skill sebesar 3,24 dan kemampuan akhir sebesar 3,67 sehingga terdapat kenaikan nilai collaboration skill setelah hasil rekomendasi sistem diterapkan. A significant proportion of university graduates struggle to obtain employment, primarily due to a misalignment between the skills they possess and the competencies requires in labor market. One of the most essential abilitie sought by employers and industry stakeholders is collaboration skill. This competency tends to flourish when individuals exhibit intrinsic motivation, personal interest, and determination. Within the educational sphere, adaptive learning has emerged as a potential solution to this strategies according to each learner’s background and personal attributes. The effective implementation of adaptive learning, however, requires technological support to assist educators in selecting the most suitable approach. In light of this, the present study seeks to design and develop an adaptive learning recommendation system aimed at fostering student’s collaboration skills. The system is built upon a rule-based system integrating both forward and backward chaining techniques. The research adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach, guided by Smart Learning Environment Establishment Guideline (SLEEG) and operationalized through the ADDIE model as the research procedure.
