"Penelitian ini berangkat dari permasalahan buku teks utama yang disiapkan oleh pemerintah masih sederhana berupa narasi teks dan gambar. Belum terdapat pengembangan sumber belajar buku digital interaktif sejarah lokal pada tema empat sesuai konteks lokalitas siswa. Buku teks utama masih terbatas pada penyampaian konsep-konsep dasar dan prosedur yang sederhana dari materi yang diajarkan. Perlu pengembangan buku digital sejarah lokal dengan mengintegrasikan nilai karakter empati sosial melalui pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pembelajaran IPS dengan narasi tekstual, audio, visual dan audio visual yang interaktif, menarik, menyenangkan dan bermakna. Tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis kondisi faktual sumber belajar IPS yang selama ini diterapkan dan empati sosial siswa, mengembangkan buku digital interaktif sejarah lokal dalam pembelajaran IPS untuk meningkatkan empati sosial siswa, dan menguji efektivitas buku digital interaktif sejarah lokal dalam pembelajaran IPS untuk meningkatkan empati sosial siswa kelas VII Sekolah Menengah Pertama di Kota Madiun. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Penelitian R&D ini dilakukan di SMP Kota Madiun. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara, angket. Uji prasyarat analisis data menggunakan normalitas, homogenitas, linieritas, dan heterokedastisitas. Uji statistik menggunakan uji-t, N-Gain, dan regresi. Hasil penelitian: 1). Siswa lebih tertarik sumber belajar digital, implementasi nilai empati sosial dalam pembelajaran masih rendah, belum terdapat integrasi nilai empati sosial dalam sumber belajar, belum terdapat pengembangan buku digital kontekstual. 2) Pengembangan buku digital interaktif menyajikan konten materi sejarah lokal dengan integrasi muatan nilai-nilai empati sosial. 3) Penggunaan buku digital interaktif berdampak siginifikan dan berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatkan empati sosial siswa. Berdasarkan penelitian dengan memperhatikan keefektivan produk terdapat peluang penggunaan buku digital interaktif sejarah lokal Madiun pada pembelajaran IPS tingkat SMP.\r\n\r\nThis study stems from the problem that the main textbooks prepared by the government are still simple in the form of text narratives and images. There has been no development of interactive digital learning resources on local history for theme four in the context of the students' locality. The main textbooks are still limited to conveying basic concepts and simple procedures of the material being taught. There is a need to develop digital local history textbooks by integrating social empathy values through the use of technology in social studies learning, incorporating interactive, engaging, enjoyable, and meaningful textual, audio, visual, and audiovisual narratives. The objectives of this study are to analyze the factual conditions of the social studies learning resources that have been applied and students' social empathy, to develop interactive digital local history books in social studies learning to improve students' social empathy, and to test the effectiveness of interactive digital local history books in social studies learning to improve the social empathy of seventh-grade junior high school students in Madiun City. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The R&D research was conducted at Junior High Schools in Madiun City. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, interviews, and questionnaires. Preliminary data analysis tests included normality, homogeneity, linearity, and heteroscedasticity. Statistical tests included t-tests, N-Gain, and regression. Research findings: 1) Students are more interested in digital learning resources; the implementation of social empathy values in learning remains low; there is no integration of social empathy values in learning resources; and there is no development of contextual digital books. 2) The development of interactive digital books presents local history content with the integration of social empathy values. 3) The use of interactive digital books has a significant and positive impact on improving students' social empathy. Based on the research, considering the effectiveness of the product, there is potential for the use of interactive digital books on local history in Madiun in social studies learning at the junior high school level."^^ .
