Menggunakan kerangka design and development research (DDR), penelitian dilaksanakan dalam tiga fase, yaitu analisis kebutuhan, perancangan-pengembangan, dan evaluasi, dengan melibatkan dosen, laboran, pakar, dan mahasiswa pendidikan kimia pada masing-masing fase. Teknik analisis meliputi analisis dokumen, analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif, uji validitas isi, analisis butir soal, serta analisis statistik inferensial. Hasil analisis kebutuhan menunjukkan bahwa praktikum konvensional yang dijalankan selama ini, khususnya dalam pemisahan dan pemurnian senyawa organik, belum sepenuhnya mengintegrasikan prinsip kimia hijau, sehingga menghasilkan limbah yang cukup signifikan, maka diperlukan program baru yang lebih kontekstual dan berorientasi keberlanjutan. Program eksperimen Khimpro yang dikembangkan mencakup panduan program eksperimen, buku teks terintegrasi, dan perangkat instrumen penilaian, dengan tiga karakteristik utama, yakni penerapan lima prinsip kimia hijau, penggunaan pendekatan eksperimen skala mikro, dan pembelajaran berbasis proyek. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan proses sains (rata-rata perubahan logit individual 1,148, kategori sedang; efek intervensi -0,822, dampak besar) dan penguasaan konsep (rata-rata perubahan logit individual 1,001, kategori sedang; efek intervensi -0,546, dampak sedang). Aspek mengobservasi merupakan yang paling mudah diterapkan, sedangkan menginterpretasi dan mencipta (C6), khususnya pada destilasi sederhana, masih menjadi tantangan bagi mahasiswa calon guru kimia. Program ini juga berhasil mengembangkan kesadaran keberlanjutan mahasiswa, dengan dimensi lingkungan menunjukkan skor tertinggi dibandingkan dimensi sosial dan ekonomi. Penelitian ini memberikan inovasi baru melalui pengembangan terintegrasi program eksperimen Khimpro yang tidak hanya berorientasi pada prinsip kimia hijau dan efisiensi praktikum skala mikro, tetapi juga secara eksplisit dirancang untuk membekali mahasiswa calon guru dengan kemampuan pedagogis dan ekologis dalam merancang serta melaksanakan praktikum berkelanjutan di masa depan. This study aims to design, develop, and evaluate a Project-based Microscale Green Chemistry (Khimpro) experiment program to support the development of science process skills, conceptual understanding, and sustainability awareness of pre-service chemistry teachers in the practicum on the separation and purification of organic compounds. The program was systematically developed through three main phases: needs analysis, design and development, and evaluation. The needs analysis revealed that conventional practicums had not fully integrated green chemistry principles and tended to generate considerable chemical waste. Therefore, a more contextual and sustainability-oriented experimental program is needed. The developed program comprises an experimental guide, an integrated textbook, and assessment instruments. The Khimpro program has three characteristics: implementing five green chemistry principles, employing the use of a microscale experimental approach, and applying application of project-based learning. The implementation results indicated that the program effectively enhanced science process skills (mean of individual logit change 1.148, moderate category; effect size -0.822, large impact) and conceptual understanding (mean of individual logit change 1.001, moderate category; effect size -0.546, medium impact). Among the science process skills, observing was the easiest skill to master, while interpreting was the most challenging. In conceptual understanding, the cognitive level of creating (C6) was the most difficult, particularly in the topic of simple distillation. The Khimpro program also positively influenced students’ sustainability awareness, which was generally high, with the environmental dimension achieving the highest score compared to the social and economic dimensions. The Khimpro program is applied overall.
