Namun, pendekatan pembelajaran di sekolah masih cenderung pasif dan kurang memberi ruang bagi siswa untuk menghubungkan pengetahuan dengan konteks nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menilai sebuah game simulasi mitigasi gempa bumi sebagai media pembelajaran yang dapat memfasilitasi literasi sains siswa SMP. Penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian pengembangan dengan model ADDIE, serta memadukan data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Validasi dilakukan oleh empat ahli, sementara uji coba melibatkan 62 siswa kelas VIII melalui kuesioner dan wawancara. Hasil validasi menunjukkan nilai Aiken’s V sebesar 0,84, dengan penilaian yang baik pada kesesuaian konten dan aspek visual, meskipun masih terdapat keterbatasan pada sisi teknis dan kegunaan. Respons siswa secara umum positif, dengan tingkat keterlibatan yang cukup tinggi (M = 4,21) serta pemahaman lebih baik mengenai tindakan mitigasi praktis (M = 4,26). Temuan ini memberikan gambaran bahwa game simulasi dapat menjadi alternatif media pembelajaran kebencanaan, meskipun pengembangan lebih lanjut tetap dibutuhkan untuk mengatasi keterbatasan teknis. Indonesia’s high exposure to natural disasters, especially earthquakes, highlights the urgent need for interactive disaster education that can foster scientific literacy among students. Traditional approaches in schools often rely on passive methods and fail to engage learners in applying knowledge to real-life contexts. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a simulation game on earthquake mitigation as a medium for enhancing the scientific literacy of Indonesian junior high school students. Employing a developmental research design with the ADDIE model, the study combined quantitative and qualitative methods. Validation involved four experts, while implementation was conducted with 62 eighth-grade students through questionnaires and interviews. Expert judgment rated the game highly valid (Aiken’s V = 0.84) in terms of content suitability and visual appeal but noted weaknesses in technical stability and usability. Student responses were very positive, with high engagement (M = 4.21) and improved understanding of practical mitigation actions (M = 4.26).
