Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by the body's inability to regulate blood glucose levels. Screen Printed Carbon Electrode/Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (SPCE/MIP) is an alternative solution as a sensing device for specific glucose detection. This study aims to synthesize chitosan-based MIP using the sol-gel polymerization method, fabricate SPCE/MIP using the drop casting method, characterize SPCE/MIP using UV-Vis, FTIR, and SEM-EDX instruments, and test its performance as a glucose sensor in urine using the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) method. The results showed that chitosan-based MIP was successfully synthesized using the sol-gel polymerization method. The success of glucose removal in MIP was indicated by a decrease in UV-Vis absorbance, a decrease in the intensity of the characteristic FTIR absorption peak, and SEM images. In addition, the performance of SPCE/MIP resistance was indicated by the resistance value, N CPE value, and Warburg Impedance, which indicated the sensor response. The sensitivity, linearity, and LOD values of the SPCE/MIP were determined based on impedance plots using the EIS method.
