Namun, dalam praktiknya siswa masih menghadapi berbagai kesulitan yang bervariasi, salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh tingkat Adversity Quotient (AQ) yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan siswa kelas X dalam penalaran adaptif matematis pada materi Statistika ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient (AQ). Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus (case study) yang didukung oleh pendekatan kuantitatif, subjek penelitian dalah siswa kelas X yang dipilih berdasarkan kategori AQ (climbers, campers, dan quitters). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes penalaran adaptif matematis, angket AQ, serta wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kategori climbers memiliki kemampuan penalaran adaptif lebih baik, meskipun masih mengalami kesulitan dalam mengajukan dugaan dan memeriksa kesahihan argumen. Siswa dengan kategori campers cenderung kesulitan dalam menentukan pola dan menarik kesimpulan, sementara siswa kategori quitters mengalami kesulitan pada hampir semua indikator penalaran adaptif. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa perbedaan tingkat AQ berpengaruh terhadap variasi kesulitan siswa dalam penalaran adaptif matematis. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah pentingnya peran guru dalam memberikan bimbingan dan strategi pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan tingkat AQ siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran adaptif mereka. Mathematical adaptive reasoning is one of the essential abilities in learning statistics, particularly in the topic of measures of central tendency, as it requires students to think flexibly, critically, and to adjust their problem-solving strategies. However, in practice, students still encounter various difficulties, which are influenced in part by the level of Adversity Quotient (AQ) they possess. This study aims to analyze the difficulties faced by tenth-grade students in mathematical adaptive reasoning on statistics material in terms of their Adversity Quotient (AQ). The type of research employed is a qualitative approach using a case study method, supported by a quantitative approach. The research subjects were tenth-grade students selected based on AQ categories (climbers, campers, and quitters). Data were collected through mathematical adaptive reasoning tests, AQ questionnaires, and in-depth interviews. The results of the study show that students in the climbers category demonstrated better adaptive reasoning ability, although they still experienced difficulties in making conjectures and verifying the validity of arguments. Students in the campers category tended to struggle in identifying patterns and drawing conclusions, while students in the quitters category encountered difficulties in nearly all indicators of adaptive reasoning. These findings indicate that differences in AQ levels influence the variation in students’ difficulties in mathematical adaptive reasoning.
