Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan representasi siswa SMP berdassarkan gender dan gaya belajar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian studi kasus dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Subjek terdiri dari 38 siswa SMP kelas VII pada salah satu SMP di Bandung. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes berupa tes tertulis kemampuan representasi matematis dan teknik non tes berupa tes angket gaya belajar dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagain besar siswa memiliki kemampuan representasi matematis pada kategori sedang. Siswa perempuan dapat merepresentasikan masalah secara visual, dapat membuat model matematika, dan dapat menjawab soal dengan menggunakan kalimat sendiri. Sedangkan, siswa laki-laki dapat merepresentasikan secara visual dan menjawab dengan kalimat sendiri secara singkat dan sederhana. Pada representasi secara ekspresi matematika, siswa laki-laki cenderung tidak dapat menuangkan ke dalam model matematika. Siswa dengan gaya belajar visual dapat merepresentasikan secara visual, ekspresi matematis, dan teks tertulis. Namun, siswa dengan gaya belajar visual cenderung menggunakan representasi secara visual untuk memecahkan masalah. Siswa dengan gaya belajar auditori cenderung menggunakan ekspresi matematis untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan. Sedangkan, siswa dengan gaya belajar kinestetik sebagian besar memberikan jawaban atas praduga dan menunjukkan ketidakpahaman terkait masalah yang diberikan. Mathematical representation ability is a person's ability to express mathematical ideas or concepts into interpretations in the form of images, mathematical expressions, and words. This study aims to analyze the representation ability of junior high school students based on gender and learning styles. The type of research used in this study is descriptive research with qualitative research methods. The subjects consisted of 38 junior high school students in grade VII at one of the junior high schools in Bandung. Data collection techniques were carried out using test techniques in the form of written tests of mathematical representation ability and non-test techniques in the form of learning style questionnaire tests and interview guidelines. The results of the study showed that most students had mathematical representation abilities in the moderate category. Female students can represent problems visually, can create mathematical models, and can answer questions using their own sentences. Meanwhile, male students can represent visually and answer with their own sentences briefly and simply. In mathematical expression representation, male students tend not to be able to express it into a mathematical model. Students with visual learning styles can represent visually, mathematical expressions, and written texts. However, students with visual learning styles tend to use visual representations to solve problems. Students with auditory learning styles tend to use mathematical expressions to solve problems.
