Jigsaw learning model, gamelan degung, playing ability, music learning, class action research. note: SINTA ID DOSEN PEMBIMBING Uus Karwati: 5993491 Toni Setiawan Sutanto: 6126662 abstract: This study aims to improve the ability to play gamelan degung through the application of Jigsaw type cooperative learning model for students of class XI.3 SMAN 6 Karawang. The background of this study is based on the initial observation findings that showed low interest, understanding of theory, and collaborative skills of students in playing gamelan degung. The Jigsaw model was chosen because it is considered capable of increasing active participation, individual and group responsibility, and building positive social interactions in the learning process. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach of the Kemmis and McTaggart model consisting of two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and assessment of students' affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects. The results showed that the application of the Jigsaw model significantly improved students' ability to play gamelan degung. The improvement can be seen in the affective aspects (interest and motivation), cognitive aspects (understanding of concepts and theories), and psychomotor aspects (practical skills in playing musical instruments). Thus, the Jigsaw type learning model is proven to be effective as an alternative learning strategy that can be applied in learning music, especially gamelan degung, as well as an effort to preserve local culture through formal education.
