Namun, siswa sekolah dasar sering menganggap matematika sulit dan abstrak, sehingga berdampak pada belum optimalnya disposisi matematis dan kemandirian belajar siswa. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya bahan ajar yang menarik dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Untuk itu, dibutuhkan inovasi bahan ajar yang mampu menumbuhkan kemandirian dan disposisi matematis. Salah satu alternatif yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengembangan buku cerita bergambar yang mengintegrasikan materi geometri bangun datar dan nilai karakter secara kontekstual dan visual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Educational Design Research (EDR) yang mencakup tiga tahap yakni analysis and exploration, design and construction, serta evaluation and reflection. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, studi dokumentasi, validasi ahli, serta angket respons dari siswa dan guru. Uji coba produk dilakukan di SDN 1 Karsanagara, Kecamatan Kawalu, Kota Tasikmalaya. Uji respons pertama dilaksanakan di kelas IV A dengan nilai kelayakan 81,66%, dan uji respons kedua di kelas IV C dengan nilai 81,87%. Keduanya termasuk dalam kategori “Sangat Layak”, menunjukkan bahwa buku cerita bergambar ini diterima dengan baik oleh siswa. Selain itu, respon guru terhadap buku juga sangat positif, dengan nilai kelayakan sebesar 92,50%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa buku tidak hanya menarik dan sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa, tetapi juga mendukung proses pembelajaran matematika di kelas. Dengan demikian, buku cerita bergambar yang dikembangkan sangat layak digunakan sebagai bahan ajar pada materi bangun datar di sekolah dasar. Mathematics plays an important role in education because it develops logical thinking patterns and problem-solving skills. However, elementary school students often find mathematics difficult and abstract, which impacts their mathematical disposition and independence in learning being less than optimal. This is due to a lack of engaging teaching materials that meet the needs of students. Therefore, there is a need for innovative teaching materials that can foster independence and mathematical disposition. One alternative used in this research is the development of illustrated storybooks that integrate flat geometry material and character values in a contextual and visual manner. This study employs the Educational Design Research (EDR) method, which includes three stages: analysis and exploration, design and construction, and evaluation and reflection. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, document studies, expert validation, and response questionnaires from students and teachers. The first response test was conducted in class IV A with a feasibility score of 81.66%, and the second response test in class IV C with a score of 81.87%. Both are categorized as 'Very Feasible', indicating that this picture storybook is well received by students. In addition, teachers' responses to the book are also very positive, with a feasibility score of 92.50%. This shows that the book is not only interesting and aligned with students' characteristics but also supports the mathematics learning process in the classroom.
