Namun, kenyataannya di lapangan masih banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, karena pembelajaran cenderung berpusat pada guru dan kurang memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk terlibat aktif dalam pemecahan masalah. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis pada siswa sebelum dan setelah penerapan model Problem Based Learning berbantuan media simulasi PhET, serta mengetahui bagaimana aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran dalam penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning berbantuan media simulasi PhET terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA kelas IV di SD Negeri Pasanggrahan 1. Metode yang digunakan merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan model yang dikembangkan oleh Stephen Kemmis dan Mc. Tanggart melalui empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan/tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik tes dan nontes, yang meliputi observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data kualitatif yang dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan, yakni reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Selain itu, terdapat pula analisis data hasil observasi yang dilakukan secara kuantitatif dengan cara menghitung persentase pada setiap indikator dari lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebelum dan sesudah penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dengan berbantuan media simulasi PhET, yang terlihat pada pra siklus, siklus I, dan siklus II. ----- Critical thinking ability is one of the important competencies that students need to have in facing the development of science and technology, especially in learning Natural Sciences (IPA). However, in reality in the field there are still many students who experience difficulties in developing critical thinking skills, because learning tends to be teacher-centered and does not provide opportunities for students to be actively involved in problem solving. Based on these problems, this study aims to determine the critical thinking skills of students before and after the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by PhET simulation media, as well as to find out how student activities during the learning process in the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model assisted by PhET simulation media to improve students' critical thinking skills in science subjects in grade IV at SD Negeri Pasanggrahan 1. The method used is Classroom Action Research with a model developed by Stephen Kemmis and Mc. Tanggart through four stages, namely planning, implementation/action, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques are carried out using test and non-test techniques, which include observation and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study uses qualitative data analysis which is carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. In addition, there was also a quantitative analysis of observation data by calculating the percentage of each indicator on the observation sheet.
